Job Title: Automation Project Manager
Job location: Mexico City (CDMX)
Job type : Full-time / Hybrid
Project Manager — Engineering Services (EMS Project)
We are looking for an experienced, execution-driven Project Manager to lead delivery of a large-scale digital twin implementation of an Energy Management System for utility clients in Latin America. Ideal candidate will own the project end-to-end from contract execution through final acceptance ensuring all technical, commercial, and contractual obligations are met successfully.
While you will not be expected to be the most technical person in the room, you will be supported by a strong senior technical team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in complex, multi-phase engineering projects, understands contract-driven delivery, and can balance client expectations with internal execution discipline.
Responsibilities — You will do:
• Own full contract execution, ensuring all milestones, deliverables, and acceptance criteria are met per contract schedules (Client Witness Testing, Certifications of Closure)
• Manage the project work plan, driving alignment between engineering, software, and client teams to meet schedule, scope, and quality commitments.
• Control payment milestones and cash flow, ensuring deliverables are completed and approved in line with the contract payment schedule.
• Lead Deployment readiness and execution, ensuring a successful operational validation and managing defect resolution cycles to achieve Final Acceptance (FAC).
• Drive risk management, identifying and mitigating risks related to schedule delays, technical performance, and contractual exposure — especially around testing and acceptance phases.
• Act as primary client interface, leading status meetings, resolving escalations, and managing expectations throughout FAT, SAT, and Go-Live.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams (engineering, modeling, software, QA, training), ensuring deliverables meet contractual and technical requirements.
• Ensure adherence to acceptance criteria, validating that all deliverables are complete, documented, and approved before submission for client acceptance.
• Manage changes and scope control, ensuring any variations are properly documented, priced, and approved per contract terms.
• Oversee project reporting, including schedule tracking, milestone status, financial performance, and executive-level updates.
• Enforce quality and documentation standards, ensuring all deliverables meet ETAP and client requirements for audits and acceptance.
Requirements — You need to have:
• 5+ years of project management experience in engineering, power systems, or industrial software delivery
• Proven experience managing contract-driven projects with milestone-based payments and acceptance criteria
• Strong understanding of project lifecycle phases (design → FAT → SAT → commissioning → acceptance)
• Advanced English proficiency (C1 or higher) — you will interact with global teams and client stakeholders
• Ability to manage technical teams and client relationships simultaneously
• Experience with risk management, change control, and contract interpretation
• Strong organizational and execution mindset — you are accountable for delivering results, not just tracking them
A PLUS:
• Experience with power systems, SCADA, EMS, or Power Automation solutions
• Familiarity with utility clients and grid operations environments
• Experience managing FAT/SAT/commissioning phases
• Knowledge of contract structures tied to acceptance testing (PAC/FAC, SDT)
• JIRA, Power BI, or similar project tracking/reporting
