Job Description:

Preferred Qualifications:

The Opportunity

We are looking for a visionary technology leader to define and drive the future of Investment Banking & Global Capital Markets technology. This is not a role to steward the status quo — it is a mandate to reimagine how deals are originated, syndicated, executed, and settled in an AI-native, real-time, cloud-first world, and to build the platform and the engineering culture that gets us there.

The right leader sees around corners: they set a multi-year north star for the division's technology, translate it into a fundable roadmap, and inspire a global organization to deliver it, all while keeping the business running and its control frameworks strong. They are as comfortable setting industry standards and forming consortia as they are architecting a resilient distributed system or pairing with an engineer on the hardest problem.

The Mandate

  • Set the vision. Own a bold, multi-year technology strategy for the primary issuance lifecycle — origination, pipeline, book-building, syndication, trade booking, and settlement — and rally the business behind it.
  • Reinvent, don't renovate. Move the division from legacy and vendor dependence toward differentiated, in-house capability where it matters, retiring manual process and operational risk at scale (e.g., STP settlement, automated front-to-back revenue booking).
  • Make the business AI-native. Champion developer AI adoption at scale — agentic and AI-assisted engineering, AI tooling in the hands of bankers — and set the standard other divisions follow.
  • Shape the industry. Lead and influence beyond the firm — industry consortia, DLT / blockchain issuance, real-time order-book paradigms, emerging market utilities — positioning us as a standard-setter rather than a fast-follower.
  • Build the team and the culture. Attract, grow, and inspire a global engineering organization; in-source and right-size delivery; and create a product-led culture with deep ties to its business users.

What You'll Own

Technology & Architecture

End-to-end architecture of the platforms behind Equity, Debt, and Loan issuance; robust, scalable, real-time distributed systems with high availability; a modern data architecture powering analytics, BI, revenue & capital reporting, and automated P&L.

Business Enablement

Straight-through processing across the deal lifecycle; content collaboration and mobility so bankers can work securely anywhere and leverage AI; measurable gains in efficiency, productivity, and revenue capacity.

Control, Risk & Compliance

The control backbone of the business: AML, MNPI, insider-list control, information & entitlement management, information security, and new-product-approval controls — strengthened as the platform evolves, not bolted on.

Stakeholder & Executive Leadership

Trusted advisor to front-office, operations, and control leaders; compelling communicator of vision, roadmap, and outcomes to executive management, regulators, vendors, and partners.

What You Bring

  • A track record of transformational, not incremental, leadership in investment banking or capital markets technology — you have re-envisioned business-critical platforms and can point to the outcomes (risk removed, cash and journals eliminated, businesses scaled).
  • 15–20+ years in the domain, with genuine, hands-on technical depth in enterprise architecture and large-scale distributed systems — a leader engineers want to follow.
  • Experience building and leading large global organizations (100+ people) serving thousands of users and multi-billion-dollar revenue businesses.
  • Fluency across modern and enterprise stacks (Java / Python, cloud, containerization, streaming, SQL / NoSQL) and the judgment to balance build, buy, and consortium.
  • Deep command of the primary issuance lifecycle and its regulatory and control frameworks.
  • Demonstrated industry influence — consortia, standards bodies, emerging-tech POCs, thought leadership.
  • Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Computer / Software Engineering, or related; advanced degree or MBA a plus.

How We'll Know You're the One

  • You lead with a point of view about the future — and can make people believe in it and fund it.
  • You pair strategic altitude with hands-on credibility — vision at the exec table, depth at the whiteboard.
  • You've redesigned business processes at scale without loosening control.
  • You build followership — the best engineers and business partners want to work with you.
  • You turn ambiguity into a clear, sequenced, deliverable roadmap.
