We’re looking for experienced Diesel Fitters to join our Site Support Team in the Northern Territory supporting a growing fleet of underground mining equipment including CAT AD63s, R2900Gs and the state of the art R2900XE LHDs. This is a permanent 14:14 alternating FIFO roster flying directly from Brisbane, Darwin or Alice Springs.
What you’ll be doing
As a Diesel Fitter at Hastings Deering, you will:
- Maintain and repair equipment – carry out warranty repairs and scheduled maintenance on CAT and Elphinstone underground mining machinery to the highest standard.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot faults – complete diagnostic assessments and identify solutions to maximise machine availability and reliability.
- Complete quality reporting – prepare accurate condition, failure and warranty reports in line with business and manufacturer requirements.
- Manage warranty processes – ensure warranty claims and supporting documentation are completed accurately and within required timeframes.
- Support customer performance – work closely with customers to maximise equipment production and operational efficiency.
- Provide technical expertise – deliver exceptional customer support while sharing product knowledge and maintenance recommendations.

What you’ll need
A successful teammate will have experience in:
- Trade qualified – Relevant Diesel Fitter or Heavy Vehicle Mechanic trade qualification.
- CAT experience preferred – Previous experience working on Caterpillar equipment and CAT diagnostic systems will be highly regarded.
- Strong communicator – Well developed communication and customer service skills with a customer focused approach.
- Self motivated and reliable – Able to work effectively both within a team environment and autonomously when required.
- Safety focused – Committed to maintaining a strong safety culture and contributing to a Zero Harm workplace.
- Positive attitude – Demonstrates a proactive work ethic, continuous improvement mindset and a motivated, punctual approach to work.
