Job Description
The Assistant Property Manager is a leader, community builder and ambassador of the Tricon brand. They partner closely with the Property Manager to ensure the community thrives, residents feel at home and the team feels supported. Through people-first leadership, attention to detail and operational excellence, the Assistant Property Manager helps shape a community that residents love and employees are proud to serve.This role blends leadership, service and operations, ensuring every detail - from suite readiness to financial performance - is executed with care and precision. The Assistant Property Manager also mentors and supports concierge staff and other team members, fostering a collaborative environment built on respect, accountability and shared success
This role supports Canary Landing, a growing, master-planned rental community comprising Maple House, Birch House and Cherry House in Toronto’s Canary District - steps from the Distillery District and close to Corktown Common, the Don River and downtown core.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Champion Resident Experience: Serve as a trusted point of contact for residents, ensuring every interaction reflects professionalism, empathy and a sense of community.
- Foster Community Connections: Support and participate in resident events and initiatives that encourage engagement, inclusivity and belonging.
- Lead with Care: Provide guidance and support to the concierge team and other staff, ensuring they feel empowered, valued and aligned with service excellence standards.
- Ensure Move-In Excellence: Oversee suite readiness and seamless move-in and move-out experiences that set the tone for resident satisfaction.
- Maintain Rent-Ready Standards: Conduct regular property inspections to uphold the quality, safety and appeal of suites, amenity spaces and common areas.
- Provide Timely Service: Liaise with residents, vendors and contractors to resolve maintenance requests promptly while maintaining clear, resident-focused communication.
- Support Financial Health: Assist with rent collection, notices and account management with professionalism and empathy, ensuring transparency for residents.
- Prioritize Safety and Comfort: Oversee security and janitorial contractors to maintain a safe, welcoming and well-kept environment.
- Collaborate on Operations: Partner with the Property Manager and broader team on daily property operations, vendor coordination and budget management.
- Uphold Standards of Service: Consistently demonstrate leadership, cultural awareness and attention to detail that reflect our people-first values.
Qualifications:
- Passion for creating positive and memorable living experiences through thoughtful, resident-focused service.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to connect effectively with residents, colleagues and vendors from diverse backgrounds.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor concierge staff and other team members while fostering a collaborative, people-first culture.
- Polished and approachable presence that reflects professionalism and respect.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail when managing records, reports, budgets and compliance requirements.
- Ability to address resident concerns and operational challenges using sound judgment, empathy and resourcefulness.
Minimum Requirements:
- 1–2+ years of progressive residential property management experience, including hands-on involvement in day-to-day property operations, resident relations and vendor coordination.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- General knowledge of applicable legislation and regulatory requirements, including the Residential Tenancies Act, Employment Standards Act, Fire Code and Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Willingness to support after-hours emergencies, evenings or weekends when resident or operational needs arise.
Preferred Attributes:
- Experience working in a purpose-built rental or multi-family residential community.
- Experience supporting Landlord and Tenant Board matters, including preparing documentation and applying the Residential Tenancies Act.
- Experience using Yardi or a similar property management system.
- Experience supporting resident events or initiatives that strengthen community connections.
- College diploma or bachelor’s degree in business, real estate, hospitality, community development or a related field.

Salary Range
Placement within this compensation range will be determined by the candidate's knowledge, experience and skills.
$74,360.00 - $105,900.00This position is eligible for an attractive benefits and wellness package and an incentive opportunity of: 10%
