Key Responsibilities
Sign Assembly & Fabrication
- Assemble roadway safety signs, signposts, and related products in accordance with approved plans, specifications, and work orders.
- Read and interpret bills of materials (BOM) to determine the materials, hardware, and specifications required for each work order.
- Apply reflective sheeting, overlays, and graphics using applicating and laminating equipment.
- Cut, drill, and finish substrates (aluminum, plywood, and composite materials) to meet job specifications.
- Incorporate any special customer requests or non-standard requirements noted on the work order.
Equipment Operation
- Safely operate saws, applicating machines, presses, and other fabrication equipment used in sign production.
- Perform routine equipment checks and basic maintenance; report malfunctions or unsafe conditions to a supervisor promptly.
- Follow all equipment operating procedures and lockout/tagout protocols as trained.
Quality & Specifications
- Understand and consistently apply quality standards for materials, workmanship, and finished product (training provided).
- Inspect completed signs for accuracy, durability, and compliance with MUTCD and state/local specifications.
- Identify and flag material defects or fabrication errors before products leave the production area.
Work Area & Safety
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with company housekeeping and safety standards.
- Properly store raw materials, finished signs, and scrap in designated areas.
- Follow all safety guidelines and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Report safety hazards, near-misses, and incidents to management immediately.
Other Duties
- Conduct daily work in compliance with company policies and departmental guidelines.
- Support other production tasks and special projects as assigned by management.
- Cross-train on additional production processes and equipment as business needs require.

Requirements
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- 1+ year of sign assembly or fabrication experience preferred but not required.
- 1+ year of general manufacturing or production experience preferred but not required.
- Entry-level candidates with a strong work ethic and willingness to learn are encouraged to apply; on-the-job training is provided.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Ability to read and interpret work orders, bills of materials, and basic technical drawings.
- Basic math skills for measuring, cutting, and verifying material specifications.
- Mechanical aptitude and comfort operating powered shop equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and safety procedures.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn new equipment, materials, and production techniques.

- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and reach for extended periods throughout a shift.
- Ability to lift, carry, and position materials and signs up to 50 pounds, with team lifting or equipment used for heavier items.
- Ability to use hands and fingers to operate saws, applicating machines, and hand tools, including repetitive motions.
- Ability to read work orders and specifications and visually inspect finished products for quality.
- Ability to hear equipment alarms and safety warnings and communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers.
- Work is performed in a manufacturing/warehouse setting with exposure to noise, dust, and moving equipment; required PPE may include safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and steel-toed footwear.
