Maintenance Manager

Short Intro and About the Job

Danone Infant Nutrition Macroom is a division of the Danone Group and the Macroom Supply Point is a strategic spray drying factory within the division as it is a major supplier of infant formula to other plants within the network. 

 

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for the maintenance of both production equipment and factory infrastructure

and the different utilities on site in conjunction with the Head of Maintenance Manager as well as leading and

developing the Maintenance team on both functional and individual development perspective to create a high

performing team.

 

To achieve success in this position it is critical that the Maintenance Manager makes the CODE (Committed, Open,

Doer, and Empowered) Values real within the site practicing & cascading the principles and philosophies. The position

also requires the successful candidate to work with the DAN-IWS program to improve site wide capability while

focusing on 0 Losses and 100% engagement of all employees.

About You

Main Deliverables:

• Lead and develop a team of skilled maintenance personnel.
• Optimize Performance Reliability (PR) while maintaining strict quality standards.
• Manage safety KPIs for internal team members and external contractors.
• Track and execute preventative maintenance schedules against the master plan.
• Control maintenance execution costs to align with the yearly budget.
• Oversee spare parts inventory to ensure accuracy and availability. 

Manage Process Reliability & Capability

• Manage process capability across all manufacturing lines.
• Develop process controls to monitor and ensure process stability.
• Deliver products that consistently meet customer specifications.

 

Manage Maintenance

• Coordinate daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, or annual plant maintenance activities – predictive, preventative, autonomous & corrective in line with plans developed by the Head of Maintenance
• Build and monitor the yearly factory maintenance and energy budget in conjunction with the Head of Maintenance. 

 

Manage Maintenance Materials and Spend

• Maintain factory material spares and equipment in conjunction with the Stores Manager.
• Drive cost reduction for high-usage and high-cost items using root-cause problem-solving.
• Optimize spending through volume purchasing and sourcing new suppliers.

Preventative Maintenance Coordination

• Plan maintenance activities to prevent machine breakdowns.
• Track and manage work orders using a dedicated tracking system.
• Optimize production line shutdowns to minimize downtime.
• Reduce costs across labour and spare parts.

Curative Maintenance Coordination

• Execute breakdown repairs with excellence and speed.
• Report on completed work, time spent, and spare parts used.
• Optimize spare parts inventory levels.

Improvement Maintenance Coordination

• Track maintenance KPIs to identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
• Participate actively in local and Danone Group maintenance networks to share and implement best practices.

Factory Energy Management

• Ensure excellence in daily energy equipment operations.
• Develop efficient, cost-effective maintenance plans.
• Drive continuous reductions in factory energy consumption and CO2 footprint.

Facilitate Continuous Improvement

• Improve standards by facilitating Problem Solving activities.
• Eradicate critical problems using a strong PDCA (Plan, Do, Check, Act) approach.
• Analyse & Report on Maintenance Performance Metrics

Analyse performance data to identify gaps, trends, and improvement opportunities.

• Coordinate KPI reporting using visual management standards.
• Communicate performance metrics to the site management team and external stakeholders.

Build Sustainability Through People

• Drive people growth by engaging and aligning all team members.
• Coach and harness diverse talent to achieve individual, functional, and company performance goals. 

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

• A proven track record of progressively leading or managing a Maintenance or Production team in a fast-paced,
• high-tech, and high-volume environment for a minimum of 2 years is essential.
• Deep knowledge of Maintenance Systems.
• Relevant Third-Level Engineering qualification or a recognized, standards-based, time-served apprenticeship.
• Strong experience applying Lean manufacturing methodologies and continuous improvement tools (e.g., Practical Problem Solving).
• Proficient in the use of MS Office tools.
• Strong numerical ability to record, interpret, and analyze key process data.
• Proven problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to align maintenance strategy with site goals, seamlessly managing both day-to-day operations and medium-term strategic issues.
• Experience facilitating team development by providing structure, training, and mentorship to all team members
