From times of personal crisis to moments of national grief, we are always here — providing support, safety, community, and opportunity.

Project Coordinator – International Development

Hybrid/Flexible Location | Full-time| SCHADS 4 |

Join us to create lasting change

At Salvation Army International Development (SAID), we believe all people and communities are thriving and resilient through transformative relationships with God, self, others and all creation.

We are seeking an experienced Project Coordinator to join our dedicated, supportive and passionate team and manage a portfolio of international community development projects in partnership with The Salvation Army across the globe. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is committed to locally led development, partnership, and delivering sustainable outcomes for the communities we serve.

About the role

As Project Coordinator, you will oversee community development projects throughout the full project lifecycle, ensuring they are effectively designed, implemented, monitored and evaluated in line with SAID's Strategic Action Plan, Theory of Change, donor requirements and international development best practice.

Working closely with international partners and internal stakeholders, you will support high-quality project delivery, strengthen organisational effectiveness and contribute to meaningful, sustainable impact.

How you will make an impact

  • Support partners to deliver high-quality, sustainable projects that meet SAID strategy, donor requirements and international development best practice.

  • Monitor project progress, budgets, risks and compliance, including DFAT-funded grants and safeguarding obligations.

  • Prepare project reports, recommendations and submissions for governance and donor requirements.

  • Maintain accurate project documentation and contribute to monitoring, evaluation and organisational reporting.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with international partners, The Salvation Army stakeholders and external agencies.

  • Collaborate across internal teams to support project delivery, communications and organisational effectiveness.

  • Represent SAID at meetings, workshops and sector events as required.

What you will bring

  • A degree in International Development, Social Sciences, Program Management or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).

  • At least three years' experience working or volunteering in international development.

  • Knowledge of the ACFID Code of Conduct, DFAT accreditation standards and principles of locally led development.

  • Experience working collaboratively with diverse internal and external stakeholders.

  • Excellent written, verbal and cross-cultural communication skills, including report writing.

  • Strong planning, analytical, organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.

Requirements

The successful applicant will be required to:

  • Hold (or obtain) a Working with Children Check (or equivalent).

  • Complete a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check.

  • Complete all mandatory training, including safeguarding, Code of Conduct and ACFID PSEAH training.

  • Comply with The Salvation Army's Safety and Wellbeing of Children and Young People Framework and Quality Management Framework.

  • Demonstrate a commitment to the mission and values of The Salvation Army.

  • Be willing and able to travel for up to 30 days per year, including international, interstate and intrastate travel, and occasionally work outside standard business hours.
