Spartanburg Animal Clinic is growing, and we’re looking for a Veterinary Technician or Experienced Veterinary Assistant to help us continue providing exceptional care to the pets and people in our community.

For over 100 years, we’ve been a trusted resource for generations of Spartanburg pet owners. We’re a well-established, high-quality practice serving dogs and cats, with a strong emphasis on client education, preventive care, and fear-free handling. Our doctors are backed by a talented support team that works together in a fun, professional environment.

If you’re a proactive team player with strong communication skills, a positive attitude, and the confidence to take initiative in a fast-paced setting, we’d love to meet you as our next Veterinary Technician or Experienced Veterinary Assistant.

Why Our Veterinary Technicians / Assistants Love It Here

  • A practice with real roots: more than 100 years of serving the Spartanburg community and the families who keep coming back
  • A growing hospital where your ideas matter and you can help shape where the practice goes next
  • A fear-free, low-stress approach to handling that puts patient comfort first
  • Full use of your skills, from cytology and dental radiographs to anesthesia monitoring and surgical assistance
  • A client-education culture where you’re trusted to teach owners about preventive care
  • A fun, professional, team-first environment with a supportive DVM team
  • Life in Upstate South Carolina: a lively downtown with local restaurants, coffee shops, art galleries, and live music; easy access to hiking trails, lakes, and the Blue Ridge Mountains; a low cost of living; top-rated schools; and a short drive to Greenville, Asheville, and Charlotte

What  Our Veterinary Technicians / Assistants Do

As our Veterinary Technician or Experienced Veterinary Assistant, you will:

  • Assist with patient exams, treatments, and medical procedures
  • Obtain patient histories and prepare exam rooms for DVM appointments
  • Perform venipuncture, place IV catheters, and run diagnostic lab work

  • Monitor anesthesia and assist with surgical procedures
  • Take diagnostic radiographs, including dental radiographs when applicable
  • Use safe, low-stress handling and proper restraint for dogs and cats
  • Educate clients on preventive care, vaccinations, parasite prevention, nutrition, and common disease prevention
  • Maintain accurate medical records and support client communications
  • Manage pharmacy duties and keep work areas clean and organized
  • Support daily hospital operations with a team-first mindset

What You’ll Bring

  • Strong technical skills, including venipuncture, IV catheter placement, laboratory procedures, and anesthesia monitoring
  • Working knowledge of surgical assistance and perioperative patient care
  • Experience with cytology evaluation and dental radiography

  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • A Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) credential is a plus; veterinary technician licensure is welcomed but not required
  • The ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, safely restrain patients of varying sizes and temperaments, and stand, walk, bend, and kneel throughout the workday
