The Place for Talent
About the opportunity:
As Charter Hall continues to evolve and embrace new technologies, staying ahead of cyber risk is critical to protecting our business and supporting our long-term success. As Cyber Defence & Response Analyst, you’ll turn complex security signals into clear insights and action, helping us identify emerging risks across our people, systems, data and AI. With a focus on looking ahead and acting early, you’ll help strengthen our cyber resilience and give our business the confidence to innovate, grow and make an impact.
How you’ll make an impact:
- Turn complex cyber signals into clear, actionable insights, building a current picture of threats, vulnerabilities and emerging risks to help Charter Hall make informed decisions and act early.
- Strengthen visibility across AI and data, monitoring how tools such as Copilot and AI agents interact with sensitive information and identifying unusual activity, risky access or potential data exposure.
- Be on the front line of cyber defence, working closely with our security partners and Technology Operations to investigate, contain and respond to threats, from phishing and account compromise through to data exfiltration.
- Continuously strengthen our cyber resilience, using threat intelligence, security insights, automation and AI to improve detection, prioritise remediation and ensure our controls continue to evolve with the changing threat landscape.
What you’ll bring to the team
- Future focused capabilities including self-awareness, resilience, agility and generosity.
- An ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strong time management skills, initiative and an ability to prioritise.
- Integrity in reporting incidents, risks and control gaps accurately.
- Clear, direct communication and the ability to explain technical risk to non-technical leaders.
- Calm judgement under pressure, confidence to challenge unclear findings and strong follow-through to closure.
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, cybersecurity, computer science or a related discipline is highly desirable.
- Approximately three to five years’ experience in a SOC, incident response or broad in-house cybersecurity role.
- Experience correlating signals across SIEM and EDR/XDR platforms; SOAR experience is desirable.
- Microsoft security capability, particularly Purview, Defender and Entra ID.
- Understanding of AI assistants and agents, including identity, permission, oversharing, prompt-injection and unapproved use risks.
- KQL or equivalent query skills, with basic PowerShell or Python for repeatable analysis.
- Risk-based vulnerability prioritisation and working knowledge of NIST CSF 2.0.
- Experience working with an MSSP is strongly preferred. Relevant security certifications and AI security learning are desirable.
