Assistant Controller

Position Summary:

We are currently seeking a highly motivated currently seeking a highly motivated individual for the position of Assistant Controller who would report to the Controller.

Key Responsibilities:

• Bank reconciliations.
• Payroll process review.
• Trial Balance review and reconciliation.
• Liaise/supervise with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable as necessary.
• Regulatory body reporting regarding consumption taxes, WCB, etc.
• Timely and accurate production of month-end and year-end entries, analysis, and reconciliation.
• Review and approval of payables and expense reports.
• As requested, evaluate existing internal controls, processes, and financial reporting methodologies, and determine any required corrective action.
• Provide technical accounting guidance and support to ensure compliance of internal accounting policies and procedures in accordance with business requirements, industry standards, and federal regulations.
• Participate in special projects such as financial systems upgrades, evaluation of new systems, or procedures.
• Active management, mentoring, or guidance to any assigned direct or indirect reports or teams on regular tasks or special projects.
• Various other ad hoc projects and analytics to support senior management.

Minimum Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or other related discipline.
• CPA designation required.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Demonstrated experience with general ledgers and financial reporting. Experience with Microsoft Navision and Jet
• Reports would be an asset. Advanced User in Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot tables, V-lookup, etc.).
• Strong attention to detail and passion for accuracy.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving ability.
• Excellent interpersonal and written / verbal communication skills. Self-directed and organized with effective time management skills. Flexibility and ability to extend standard business hours as required to meet routine and unexpected deadlines.

 

The (range of) compensation for this position is $96,300.00 to $115,500.00
