Description
Now Brewing – senior sourcing manager, technology! #tobeapartner
From the beginning, Starbucks set out to be a different kind of company. One that not only celebrated coffee and the rich tradition, but that also brought a feeling of connection. We are known for developing extraordinary leaders who share this passion and are guided by their service to others.
The senior sourcing manager, technology is an individual contributor responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies across technology categories, including hardware, software, cloud-based solutions, maintenance, support, and related technology services.
The role combines strong technology-category knowledge with advanced sourcing, negotiation, contracting, and supplier-management capabilities. The individual will partner with Starbucks Technology (ST), Finance, Legal, and other relative business stakeholders to evaluate requirements, improve commercial outcomes, mitigate supplier risk, and build sourcing strategies that support long-term business objectives.
The successful candidate will bring practical experience managing technology suppliers, software publishers, and value-added resellers. This role requires the ability to independently lead complex sourcing initiatives from market analysis and sourcing strategy through negotiation, contracting, implementation, and supplier management.
As a senior sourcing manager, technology, you will…
- Develop and execute multi-year sourcing strategies across enterprise hardware, software, SaaS, cloud, maintenance, support, and related technology services.
- Independently lead complex sourcing initiatives, including requirements development, competitive events, proposal analysis, supplier selection, negotiations, contracting, and implementation.
- Evaluate technology pricing, licensing structures, subscription models, renewals, support terms, and total cost of ownership to deliver measurable value and commercial flexibility.
- Manage relationships with software publishers, hardware manufacturers, distributors, and value-added resellers, ensuring competitive pricing, channel transparency, and effective service delivery.
- Lead commercial and contractual negotiations in partnership with Technology, Finance, Legal, Information Security, Privacy, and other stakeholders.
- Build and maintain a pipeline of value opportunities through competitive sourcing, demand management, supplier consolidation, license optimization, improved terms, and supplier-enabled innovation.
- Establish supplier governance, lead business reviews, monitor contractual commitments and performance, and implement corrective-action plans when needed.
- Identify and mitigate supplier, commercial, licensing, information-security, service-continuity, concentration, and renewal risks.
- Develop clear business cases, financial analyses, sourcing recommendations, and executive-level presentations that enable informed stakeholder decisions.
We’d love to hear from people with:
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business, finance, technology, engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
- 5+ years of technology-sourcing experience
- Demonstrated experience sourcing and negotiating enterprise technology products and services, including both hardware and software.
- Experience managing competitive sourcing events and complex supplier negotiations.
- Working knowledge of enterprise software licensing, subscription, maintenance, support, and renewal models.
- Demonstrated understanding of value-added reseller relationships and technology-channel commercial models.
- Experience developing sourcing strategies, negotiation plans, supplier evaluations, business cases, and award recommendations.
- Experience negotiating commercial agreements in partnership with Legal and other risk or control functions.
- Strong analytical skills, including the ability to evaluate complex pricing proposals, licensing models, total cost of ownership, and financial scenarios.
- Strong project-management skills, with the ability to independently manage multiple initiatives and deadlines.
- Effective written, verbal, and presentation skills, including the ability to communicate with technical stakeholders and senior leaders.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and other tools used for sourcing analysis, project management, and executive communication.
