DESCRIPTION OF INTERN ASSIGNMENT
Intern assignment5-months MSc project based at ETCA
Project title : How can Shell systematically evaluate and prioritize market segments for emerging technologies, and developed frameworks for market scan?
Goals and objectives
This MSc project will have the following tasks:
- Prepare a map of online market scan tools that are used in Shell for existing and emerging technologies and technical services/products
- Conduct interviews with Shell colleagues who use these market scan tools and understand the process of market research, especially which provides stand out as possible buyers and why.
- After mapping and the interviews, develop a scoring system based on multiple criteria. This will allow us to filter the companies based on, for instance, sustainability targets, material requirements, volume potential, etc. Through the scoring system, identify specific companies to focus on.
- Report/Recommendations: The final step in the internship is to combine the quantitative and qualitative data from the interviews into a recommendation report. This report will include which market segments and specific companies to focus on, supported by realistic market share data (and the market growth forecast). It will also provide a strategic market approach and recommendations to improve Shell's current market research process, based on the scoring system developed during this project.
