Position Description
Vineyard Cares is looking for responsible, dependable childcare assistants to help supervise children ages 8 and under during our five-week Guiding Good Choices parenting program.
This is a great short-term opportunity for individuals who enjoy working with children, including teens looking to gain paid childcare experience. An adult program supervisor will be on-site throughout each session.
Responsibilities

Supervise children and help provide a safe, welcoming environment.

Assist with child check-in and checkout.

Engage children in age-appropriate games, crafts, reading, and other simple activities.

Help children follow rules and treat the library space and materials respectfully.

Communicate any concerns to the on-site adult program supervisor.

Assist with setup and cleanup before and after each session.
Qualifications

Responsible, patient, reliable, and comfortable working with young children.

Previous babysitting, childcare, or volunteer experience preferred but not required.

American Red Cross Babysitter's Training, CPR, First Aid, or similar preparation is a plus.

Must meet applicable city age and background-check requirements.

Must be available for all five Saturday sessions if applying for a primary position.
Schedule and Availability
Primary childcare assistants must commit to all five Saturdays: October 24, October 31, November 7, November 14, and November 21, 2026, from 9:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
We may also select one on-call alternate to provide coverage in case of illness or unexpected absences. Alternate hours are not guaranteed.
