Wieland is hiring a Process Leader. The Process Leader leads hourly production employees in the safe, reliable, and efficient execution of daily manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for developing people, managing process performance, communicating priorities across shifts and departments, and using company systems to support production, safety, quality, inventory, and continuous improvement goals. The ideal candidate is a growth-oriented leader with strong technical aptitude, communication skills, and the desire to build a career in manufacturing operations leadership. Prior supervisory experience is helpful but not required. This role is located in Shelbyville, KY and will be fully on-site.
Schedule: 12-hour Shifts - rotates monthly.
- Day Shift: 6:00 AM - 6:30 PM
- Night Shift: 6:30 PM - 6:00 AM
Responsibilities
Process Leader Responsibilities:
- Lead, coach, and develop hourly production employees by setting clear expectations, reinforcing safe work practices, providing timely feedback, supporting training progression, and creating accountability for performance and conduct.
- Manage daily production execution to meet safety, quality, delivery, cost, housekeeping, and productivity expectations while maintaining effective communication across shifts, support departments, and plant leadership.
- Monitor process performance, equipment conditions, staffing needs, downtime, scrap, throughput, and schedule attainment; identify abnormal conditions, escalate issues appropriately, and support corrective actions.
- Use ERP systems, production reporting tools, Microsoft Office, and other company systems to communicate priorities, document shift activity, track performance, support inventory accuracy, and execute business processes.
- Apply structured problem-solving and continuous improvement methods to improve manufacturing performance, standard work adherence, employee engagement, process stability, and operational discipline.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety requirements, environmental expectations, quality standards, training requirements, and operating procedures while treating employees consistently, professionally, and respectfully.
Process Leader Qualifications:
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, Operations Management, Supply Chain, or a related technical field; or equivalent combination of education and relevant manufacturing experience.
- Demonstrated interest in manufacturing leadership, production operations, process improvement, or technical problem-solving.
- Ability to lead, coach, and communicate with hourly employees in a clear, respectful, and consistent manner.
- Strong analytical ability, including the ability to interpret production data, identify trends, recognize abnormal conditions, and recommend practical countermeasures.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel, Outlook, Word, and Teams.
- Willingness and ability to learn ERP systems, production reporting tools, standard work systems, and other company business processes.
- Strong ownership, follow-through, organization, and sense of urgency in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Ability to work assigned shifts, support production schedules, and respond to operational priorities as needed.
- Proficient in speaking, reading, and writing in English
Preferred Qualifications
- Internship, co-op, capstone, project, or work experience in manufacturing, operations, maintenance, foundry, metals, recycling, process engineering, quality, or supply chain.
- Exposure to Lean manufacturing, 5S, standard work, root cause analysis, corrective action, or continuous improvement methods.
- Experience using ERP systems such as SAP, or willingness to become proficient in ERP transactions and reporting.
- Prior leadership experience in work, school, military, athletics, student organizations, project teams, or community roles.
- Experience analyzing data, building reports, using spreadsheets, or presenting improvement recommendations.
- Previous exposure to molten metal, foundry, casting, recycling, heavy manufacturing, or industrial operations is helpful but not required.
