The Opportunity:

Washington State University's College of Arts and Sciences is now accepting applications for an Instructional & Classroom Support Technician 3 to support the Department of Chemistry. As the Instructional & Classroom Support Technician, you will coordinate the implementation of laboratory safety practices for undergraduate instructional laboratories and instructional stockrooms. You will also oversee laboratory preparation activities, equipment and chemical management, safety compliance programs, hazardous waste processes, and instructional laboratories. Other duties will include but are not limited to providing technical and operational support to faculty teaching assistants and student employees, coordinating staffing, training, and laboratory resources, developing and maintaining training programs, and compliance documentation. As well as collaborating with departmental leadership to improve instructional laboratory operations, safety practices, and instructional support services. 

Additional Information:

This is a full time (100% FTE), permanent position. This position is overtime eligible.

Monthly Salary: $4,300.00 to $5,779.00 | Range 47 | Steps A-M | Successful candidates are typically hired at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28.

In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree with major study in a basic applied science (chemistry or closely related field) AND two years of full-time experience as a Instruction & Classroom Support Technician 2; OR equivalent education/experience.
• Willingness and ability to work evenings, with notice.
• Must have or be able to obtain within 6 months of hire, Red Cross first aid training, including CPR.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s Degree in chemistry or closely related field and two (2) years of experience teaching/supervising General Chemistry laboratories.
