We are currently seeking a dynamic, growth-focused Geotechnical Project Manager (P.Eng.) to join our Geotechnical Practice in Ontario. This role is based out of Ottawa, ON or Vaughan, ON, and we will also consider qualified candidates located elsewhere in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). Our current workload includes a portfolio of diverse projects across a wide spectrum of sectors, principally rail infrastructure, municipal infrastructure, highways, energy, water & environment, and urban and industrial development. Your role

 

• Lead the delivery of geotechnical projects from pursuit and planning through investigation, design, construction support, and closeout, with accountability for scope, schedule, budget, quality, risk, and client satisfaction.
• Manage geotechnical assignments for public-sector clients, including Metrolinx, the City of Toronto, City of Ottawa, Region of Peel, York, and other municipalities and regional authorities, while supporting the specific governance, reporting, and stakeholder requirements of each client.
• Direct multidisciplinary project teams and coordinate resources, subconsultants, drilling contractors, laboratories, and technical specialists to achieve safe, efficient, and timely delivery.
• Develop project plans, work breakdown structures, schedules, budgets, forecasts, risk registers, and change-control strategies, and provide clear reporting on project performance.
• Oversee technical execution and QA/QC of geotechnical investigations, analyses, designs, reports, specifications, and construction support, drawing on appropriate technical specialists and reviewers.
• Lead proposals, fee estimates, commercial negotiations, contract administration, invoicing, and client communications, and support business development with public- and private-sector clients.
• Build trusted client relationships, mentor project team members, resolve delivery issues proactively, and promote collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.

 

About you

 

• Bachelor’s degree in civil or Geological Engineering with a geotechnical focus; a graduate degree in Geotechnical Engineering is an asset.
• P.Eng. licensed in Ontario, with 10–15 years of progressive geotechnical consulting experience, including substantial responsibility for managing projects from planning through design and construction support.
• Demonstrated experience managing geotechnical projects for Metrolinx, the City of Toronto, Peel Region, and/or other municipalities and regional authorities; experience delivering private-sector development projects is also important.
• Strong project and commercial management capability, including competitive proposals, work planning, resourcing, scheduling, budget and cost control, forecasting, change management, risk management, contract administration, and client engagement.
• Sound technical understanding of geotechnical investigation, design, and construction practices, with demonstrated application of relevant Canadian and Ontario standards and the judgement to coordinate technical specialists and reviewers.

Additional information

Expected compensation for this role is between $100,200 - $137,700 annually. Base salaries are determined according to several parameters like skills, experience, and potential impact on the role. Internal and external competitiveness are also taken into account in our offers.
