Job Summary
The Chief of Psychology serves as the clinical leader of the psychology department, responsible for setting the strategic direction of behavioral health services while ensuring the highest standards of patient care. This role bridges executive leadership and frontline clinical work - balancing hands-on patient care with oversight of a growing team of psychologists, LCSWs, and LMHCs/LMSWs.
Reporting directly to the Medical Director, the Chief of Psychology is expected to bring clinical expertise and administrativejudgment to the role: driving departmental growth through recruitment and program development and cultivating a culture of continuous learning through mentorship and biweekly education sessions. The position requires someone who can operateeffectively across multiple levels of the organization - supervising and developing clinicians and partnering with leadership on strategic initiatives.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities and ExpectationsLeadership & Strategy• Lead strategic initiatives to expand behavioral health services and improve departmental efficiency.• Collaborate with leadership on program design, outcome tracking, and integration of new clinical services.• Report to the Medical Director on departmental performance, initiatives, and outcomes.
Quality & Compliance• Ensure appropriateness of clinical documentation and administrative processes.• Oversee documentation, coding, interventions, and diagnosis to ensure clinical accuracy.
Team Development & Supervision• Meet with LCSWs and other clinical staff to align goals, maintain quality standards, and identify training opportunities.• Collaborate with and supervise LMHCs/LMSWs.• Provide mentorship to clinicians and supervise performance reviews as needed.• Conduct educational sessions focused on clinical development and continuing education.Recruitment• Participate in provider interviews as part of ongoing recruitment and departmental scaling
Qualifications
Qualifications• Doctoral degree in Psychology (Ph.D. or Psy.D.)• Active, unrestricted state license to practice psychology• Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience; prior supervisory or leadership experience preferred• Strong interpersonal and mentorship skills, with experience supervising licensed and limited-permit clinicians
