Description
The City of Berkeley invites you to apply for the 1-year temporary project-based position of Senior Landscape Gardener in the Parks, Recreation & Waterfront Department! In this role, you will train and instruct staff, personally perform landscape duties, and ensure safety of job sites. You will also assist the Landscape Gardener Supervisor in planning, organizing, assigning, and evaluating work in the mobile unit.

A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position is: Equivalent to graduation from high school and three (3) years of journey level experience in landscape maintenance work at a level equivalent to the Landscape Gardener class.
Requirements include: Must possess a valid California driver's license and have a satisfactory driving record. Must possess sufficient strength and stamina to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Must be willing to work out of doors in all weather conditions.
In addition to the qualifications listed above, the ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to prepare accurate written and oral reports and skill in directing and instructing others in proper and safe landscape maintenance techniques. They will possess knowledge of maintenance and minor repair of irrigation systems and the ability to exercise sound independent judgment within established guidelines.
