The key purpose of this role is to define, develop, and implement optimal brewery-wide food safety and document management, auditing, quality standards and work practices to ensure compliance with process and product specifications and management of records of deviations and nonconformance in a food and beverage manufacturing plant.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
Quality Assurance and Quality Control
- Responsible for personal safety and the safety of others in his / her designated area
- Operating, Calibrating and Maintaining equipment in packaging process areas according to VPO standards
- Reviewing packaging quality performance against targets, addressing out of controls and process deviation using the VPO tools
- Ensuring compliance to Food Safety Standard as described in the FS management system
- Review and improve quality at source standard operating practices
- Responsible for quality at source including training on and check the execution of standards by the operation executed by production teams
- Verify compliance with daily routines as per agenda of routine execute daily schedule
- Manage personal development plan
Voyager Plant Optimisation
- Champion VPO within the work area
- Understand VPO pillars and apply it to the daily tasks
- Action glidepath to help drive VPO means to deliver KPIs
Govern and Maintain Site Food Safety Management System
- Maintain food safety defence manual for site
- Lead internal food safety audit planning and execution and non-conformance closure
- Food safety standards are in place and well understood
- Training and assess competency of personnel on food safety management system and practices
- Verification of HACCP, TACCP and VACCP programs
- Standardise food safety practices across teams, enabling audit readiness and product safety
- Maintain legal requirements for the site
- Management of site data integrity, control OD records and coordinate all site documentation
Maintenance of Equipment
- Verify food safety related equipment is maintained, calibrated and verified as per defined maintenance frequencies
- Verify the competency of technicians responsible for management of Food Safety control instrumentation
Communication
- Actively participate in shift meetings, asking questions to test understanding and contributing suggestions. Making use of the action logs to record issues, problems and improvement opportunities
- Make use of relevant communication media to stay informed and inform others of issues
- Utilising VPO digital tools to improve understanding of process and standards
- Required to escalate out-of-control processes to Food Safety Team Leader, Process Owners and Quality Personnel
- Update and communicate the Quality Team LNA and Training bucket
- Communicate audit gaps, Food Safety culture initiatives and action closure to Process Owners
Problem-Solving
- Ensure problem solving for all out-of-control processes using the VPO problem solving tools to resolve and record the issues
- Ensure QFR and 5why are done timeously

Minimum Requirements:
- Min Advanced Diploma or Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Microbiology or equivalent
- 1-2 Years in Laboratory, Brewing or Packaging operation
- ISO22000 or FSSC Certification
