Description
• Perform routine cleaning tasks such as washing and disinfecting toilets, sinks, floors, tables, mirrors, and fixtures; dust and polish furniture; and wash walls, ceilings, and windows as scheduled.
• Complete daily, weekly, and monthly deep-cleaning rotations, including full room cleaning, window washing, and closet and alcove sanitation according to departmental schedules.
• Gather, remove, and properly dispose of trash and recyclables; replace liners and clean receptacles.
• Monitor and maintain inventory of housekeeping and laundry supplies; receive deliveries, stock shelves, and report shortages or equipment issues to supervision.
• Perform laundry operations including sorting, washing, drying, folding, labeling, and distributing facility linens and resident personal items.
• Transport soiled laundry, clean and maintain laundry equipment, and ensure safe handling of materials in accordance with infection control standards.
• Relocate and organize residents’ belongings and rooms during transfers or scheduled room changes.
• Clean and maintain assigned equipment and work areas in safe, orderly condition.
• Participate in department quality improvement activities and support continuous improvement of housekeeping and laundry services.
• Perform other related duties as assigned or required to meet facility needs.
High school graduate or equivalent experience preferred.
Less than one (1) year of experience in housekeeping, custodial, or laundry work; experience in a healthcare or long-term care facility desirable.
Ability to understand and comply with federal and state, and facility safety requirements.
Valid Wisconsin driver’s license.
• Work involves frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, and handling cleaning tools, supplies, and equipment.
• The employee is regularly required to talk and hear and frequently use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
• The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, crouch, or crawl.
• Must be able to frequently lift or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• Exposure to fumes, airborne particles, cleaning chemicals, moving mechanical parts, and vibration may occur during normal work activities.
• Noise levels in the work environment can range from moderate to loud depending on assigned area and equipment used.
• Requires regular use of housekeeping equipment such as vacuums, and laundry machines.
• Work may include weekends and holidays to meet facility needs and maintain a sanitary, safe, and comfortable environment.
• Position requires adherence to all County, facility, and Health Department safety and infection-control procedures.
• Risk of exposure to bloodborne pathogens and communicable diseases is considered high; appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and hygiene practices are required.
