Finance Technical Lead – SAP BW HANA

About the role 

We are looking for an experienced SAP BW HANA lead to help the Finance Domain deliver sustainable, strategic reporting, analytics and planning solutions across our global business. In this role, you will act as the technical authority for the Finance data and analytics platform, guiding solution design, architecture and delivery across global initiatives.

Working closely with Group Finance stakeholders, Business Analysts, Project Managers, delivery partners and IS&T teams, you will help shape the transition to a modern analytics ecosystem. What you’ll be doing 

Reporting to the Manager of Reporting and Analytics, and working in a collaborative, global technology environment within IS&T, you will: 

• Provide technical leadership and Finance domain expertise to translate reporting, analytics and planning requirements into sustainable solutions
• Define solution architecture and technical direction across SAP BW/4HANA and emerging data and analytics platforms
• Design, build and assure high-quality solutions that align with Rio Tinto architectural standards and long-term strategy
• Partner with Group Finance stakeholders to prioritise work, manage expectations and ensure delivery outcomes meet business needs
• Guide development teams and delivery partners, sharing expertise and mentoring colleagues to build capability
• Identify and manage technical risks, issues and dependencies to support successful project outcomes
• Drive solution quality, performance optimisation, security and governance across Finance reporting platforms
• Support the evolution of Finance analytics capabilities across SAP BDC, Datasphere, SAC, Databricks and Power BI

Required for Success  

• A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team, with a demonstrated focus on health, safety, environment and security leadership 
• Solid experience delivering SAP BW/4HANA or BW on HANA solutions, including native SAP HANA development, architecture, data modelling and performance optimisation in complex enterprise environments 
• Demonstrated experience translating Finance reporting, planning and analytical requirements into scalable data and reporting solutions for large, global organisations 
• Strong technical capability across SAP BW, ABAP, LSA++, authorisation models, Analysis for Office and SAP ECC Finance processes 
• Proven ability to influence stakeholders, provide technical leadership and guide delivery teams, vendors or implementation partners through complex programmes of work 
• Experience working across geographically dispersed teams and balancing multiple priorities while delivering sustainable, high-quality outcomes 

Helpful for Success 

• Experience with SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC), particularly Finance planning, analytics or dashboard solutions ideally within a mining or other hard industry environment  

• Knowledge of SAP Business Data Cloud (BDC) and SAP Datasphere, including integration with BW/4HANA environments  

• Experience developing enterprise reporting solutions using Microsoft Power BI with SAP data sources 

• Exposure to Databricks and modern cloud-based analytics platforms 

• Experience within mining, resources or other large-scale, safety-critical industrial environments
