Job Description:

DePuy Synthes is recruiting for a Director, CEE, Distributor & TPI Markets, located in Prague, Czechia. 

This role is a senior legal leadership position responsible for providing strategic legal counsel across Central & Eastern Europe (CEE), with a strong focus on distributor and thirdparty intermediary (TPI) markets. The Director will partner closely with commercial and compliance teams to enable compliant growth, manage legal and reputational risks, and drive consistent governance across a complex and highly regulated environment. 

This is an exciting opportunity to shape legal strategy across emerging and distributorled markets, influence key commercial decisions, and act as a trusted advisor to regional leadership in a business that is critical to DePuy Synthes’ global growth. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Provide strategic legal counsel to business leaders across CEE distributor and TPI markets, enabling compliant commercial execution 

  • Lead and develop a high-performing legal team responsible for distributor and TPI markets, fostering collaboration and alignment with organizational priorities  

  • Champion the transformation of legal service delivery through the effective use of AI, automation, digital platforms, and emerging technologies. 

  • Reimagine legal workflows and operating models to deliver legal services more efficiently to drive greater business value. 

  • Serve as the primary legal advisor for DePuy Synthes in CEE and for distributor and TPI markets advising senior business and functional leaders on legal and compliance matters.  

  • Advise on and support contracting, negotiation, and structuring of distributor, agency, and thirdparty intermediary arrangements 

  • Ensure compliance with healthcare laws, anticorruption regulations, competition/antitrust laws, and industry codes across multiple jurisdictions 

  • Identify, assess, and mitigate legal and compliance risks associated with distributor and indirect gotomarket models 

  • Partner with Compliance to design and implement policies, controls, and training related to thirdparty risk management 

  • Support investigations, audits, and remediation activities involving distributors or thirdparty intermediaries 

  • Collaborate crossfunctionally with Commercial, Finance, Supply Chain, Regulatory, and Compliance teams to support business strategy 

  • Drive consistency in legal standards, templates, and governance practices across CEE markets 

  • Lead or support regional strategic initiatives, including market expansion, new business models, and organizational transformation 

  • Manage external counsel and oversee legal budget and resource allocation for the region 

 

Qualifications 

Education: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law required (JD/LLB or equivalent) 

  • Advanced legal qualification or bar admission required 

  • Master’s degree or additional certifications in business or compliance preferred 

 

Experience and Skills: 

Required: 

  • Significant legal experience, typically 10–12+ years, including leadership accountability in complex, multinational environments 

  • Experience leading or mentoring legal teams or acting as a functional leader 

  • Knowledge of thirdparty risk management frameworks and compliance programs  

  • Strong negotiation skills in complex, multicountry agreements  

  • Strong expertise in commercial law, contract law, and regulatory frameworks relevant to healthcare or medtech industries 

  • Proven experience advising on distributor and thirdparty intermediary models in international markets 

  • Deep understanding of anticorruption, competition law, and compliance requirements in emerging markets 

  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders and provide pragmatic, businessfocused legal advice 

  • Strong risk assessment, problemsolving, and decisionmaking capabilities 

  • Experience working in matrixed, crossfunctional environments with global teams 

Preferred: 

  • Experience in the medical device, pharmaceutical, or broader healthcare industry 

  • Familiarity with CEE markets and regional regulatory environments 

  • Prior inhouse counsel experience in a multinational corporation 

 

Other: 

  • Languages: Fluent English required; additional CEE language(s) preferred 

  • Travel: Approximately 20–30% international travel within the region 

  • Certifications: Professional legal certification or bar membership required 

  • Driver’s License: Not required

The anticipated base pay range for this position is:

Kč2,286,000.00 - Kč3,944,500.00

In addition to base pay, we offer the following benefits*: an annual bonus with set target (% of pay) depending on pay grade / location, where the actual amount is based on the employees’ and companies’ performance of the previous calendar year, or sales commissions.
