Through the operation of 30 recreation centers across Denver, DPR can offer affordable facilities, programs, and activities to residents and visitors year-round. Recreation centers offer several organized classes including, but not limited to, aquatics, arts and crafts, cultural and social activities, fitness and sports, health, special events, tours, and more.  Activities are organized for children, youth, adults, people with disabilities, and active older adults for maximum enjoyment by all of Denver’s diverse communities.

It takes a dedicated team of individuals to support these key day-to-day operations and programs at recreation centers across Denver. Recreation Assistants perform a variety of functions including customer service, clerical, and facility upkeep tasks to help keep recreation centers running smoothly. The Recreation Assistant position is a true entry-level opportunity for first-time employees as well as for individuals looking to make a direct impact in the community.

  • Assist with monitoring the day-to-day operations of a recreation center or a specific program area

  • Assist with maintaining the cleanliness of the recreation center

  • Support recreation activities such as sports, games, classes, outdoor activities, childcare, and special events

  • Monitor drop-in and program spaces for safety and policy compliance. Assist with policy enforcement, when necessary

  • Attend agency-required customer service and ActiveNet training, provided at no cost

  • Assist with emergency situations such as medical emergencies, evacuations, suspicious behavior and activity, or other unexpected situations, as necessary

  • Perform other related duties as assigned

What You’ll Bring

We are seeking staff members who have a passion for customer service, enjoy helping others, and can seek out opportunities to contribute to the success of a busy work environment.
