The Opportunity
The Private Markets Analytical Officer is a dynamic, strategic leader reporting to the Chief Analytical Officer for Structured Finance & Private Markets. This critical role is responsible for developing and executing the company strategy to establish S&P Global Ratings as the premier provider of ratings, insights, and expertise in the rapidly evolving private markets landscape. As a Grade 14 leader, this individual will set a clear and inspiring vision aligned to enterprise and divisional strategy, motivating teams and stakeholders to achieve long-term objectives.
The Impact
As a senior leader and spokesperson, the role will help shape the future of our private markets franchise and ensure our team delivers ratings, insights, and expertise that meet evolving client and market needs. The Private Markets Analytical Officer will be responsible for the direction, quality, and delivery of a significant analytical agenda, including strategic decisions on priorities and resource deployment to achieve key outcomes. While also collaborating across S&P Global divisions, particularly Market Intelligence and S&P Dow Jones Indices, the role will strengthen enterprise-wide alignment through shared objectives, consistent messaging, and integrated market perspectives.

Key Responsibilities
Analytical Excellence
Work with the Chief Analytical Officers, Practices, and Methodology teams to assess complex and novel private market transactions and develop analytical approaches for evaluating esoteric risks, with a particular focus on corporate and infrastructure risks.
Lead or contribute to highly visible, multidisciplinary initiatives across the organization, ensuring that analytical approaches are aligned with broader Ratings priorities and enterprise strategy.
Actively engage with market participants to support ratings transparency and educational objectives on private market trends, structures, and transactions.
Engage proactively with Insights teams globally to ensure consistency and transparency in our approach to private markets developments, while building detailed knowledge of cross-practice methodologies, structures, and markets.
Uphold high standards for analytical quality, data consistency, and methodological discipline across private markets activity.
Strategic Thought Leadership
Help shape the firm’s perspective on key market trends, risks, and structural developments across private credit and adjacent asset classes.
Bring new thinking, curiosity, and a long-term perspective to private markets analysis, identifying opportunities for growth, innovation, and stronger market understanding.
Identify gaps and opportunities in market understanding and work with research teams to produce insightful and timely thought leadership pieces.
Establish and maintain a consistent, compelling ratings narrative for clients, regulators, and market participants.
Translate evolving private markets themes into clear analytical views that reinforce S&P Global Ratings’ position as a trusted voice in credit markets.
Market Engagement
Elevate S&P Global Ratings’ profile through high-impact research, viewpoints, and market insights.
Act as a senior spokesperson with key external stakeholders, including regulators, central banks, industry associations, and media.
Translate complex market content into accessible, externally relevant insights that influence market dialogue.
Communicate complex ideas across functions, levels, and external audiences, with the ability to negotiate effectively and agree on solutions.
Leadership & Collaboration
Foster strong partnerships across GARM, the analytical teams, and other S&P Ratings teams.
Ensure alignment on market perspectives, data standards, and methodological consistency.
Influence senior stakeholders across a matrixed organization to align-on priorities and perspectives, while inviting diverse viewpoints to shape solutions and build stronger outcomes.
Effectively manage multiple key projects, conflicting priorities, and unexpected changes through clear prioritization and appropriate delegation.
Assess and respond appropriately to challenging or sensitive situations, fostering trust, inclusivity, and credibility with internal and external stakeholders.
Coach, develop, and empower team members and colleagues to maximize performance and strengthen analytical capability.
Compensation/Benefits Information
This section is only applicable to US candidates: S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $210,000 USD to $291,000 USD. Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual’s geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses, and certifications. In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan. What We’re Looking For:
Qualifications:
An S&P Global employee at this level would typically have 15+ years of extensive experience in private markets, private credit, credit ratings, structured finance, corporate credit, infrastructure finance, or a related analytical field.
Possess a deep understanding of private markets dynamics across regions and asset classes, along with demonstrated experience in thought leadership, research, or market insight development.
Bring strong analytical credibility and the ability to develop authoritative market perspectives, as well as strong capability in structuring and improving data quality, consistency, and analytical usability.
Proven experience leading and developing small, high-performing analytical teams, with a focus on delivering thought leadership outputs and strengthening data quality, consistency, and analytical capability.
Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and operate effectively in a matrixed organization, as well as excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex analytical topics into clear and compelling narratives.
Bachelor’s degree required.
All employees are required to work from the office a minimum of 2 days per week.
We require all candidates who reach the final stage of our interview process to attend at least one in-person interview, which is ordinarily at your nearest S&P Global Ratings office. This must be completed before we can proceed to an offer.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree or CFA designation is preferred.
