We are looking for a dependable, hardworking, and team-oriented Houseman / Banquet Steward to join our Food & Beverage team. This position plays an essential role in preparing our event spaces, supporting banquet operations, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring our facilities are ready to deliver exceptional experiences for our members and their guests.

Position Overview

The Houseman / Banquet Steward is responsible for maintaining clean, organized, and event-ready facilities while providing essential operational support to the Food & Beverage and Banquet teams.

This position helps ensure that banquet rooms, event spaces, service areas, and equipment are properly prepared before events, maintained throughout operations, and restored following each function. Responsibilities include setting tables and chairs, moving equipment, assisting with room configurations, maintaining cleanliness, and supporting the safe and efficient flow of banquet service.

The ideal candidate is proactive, physically capable of performing the duties of the position, and willing to step in wherever needed. Previous hospitality or banquet experience is beneficial, but we welcome individuals with a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn.

Key Responsibilities

Banquet Setup & Event Preparation

• Set up banquet rooms and event spaces according to floor plans, event orders, and management direction.
• Arrange tables, chairs, staging, dance floors, and other event equipment as required.
• Prepare event spaces with the appropriate linens, service equipment, and supplies.
• Ensure rooms are clean, organized, and presentable before members and guests arrive.
• Assist with changing room configurations between events and functions.
• Review setup requirements with the banquet team to ensure accuracy and attention to detail.
• Complete pre-event inspections to confirm that all assigned setup responsibilities have been fulfilled.

Event Breakdown & Equipment Management

• Break down event spaces promptly and efficiently following the conclusion of functions.
• Return tables, chairs, equipment, linens, and supplies to their designated storage areas.
• Assist with resetting rooms for upcoming events and daily operations.
• Handle furniture, equipment, and supplies carefully to prevent damage.
• Maintain organized storage areas and ensure equipment is readily accessible.
• Report damaged, missing, or malfunctioning equipment to management.
• Follow established procedures for the safe movement, handling, and storage of equipment.

Stewarding, Cleaning & Sanitation

• Maintain cleanliness throughout banquet spaces, service areas, storage rooms, and assigned work areas.
• Clean and sanitize tables, chairs, counters, and other surfaces as needed.
• Assist with collecting, sorting, and transporting used dishes, glassware, silverware, and other service      items to designated areas.
• Support dishwashing and sanitation operations when needed.
• Maintain clean floors and promptly address spills and other housekeeping concerns.
• Dispose of trash and recycling according to established procedures.
• Ensure cleaning supplies and equipment are properly stored after use.
• Follow established food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standards.

Operational & Banquet Support

• Assist banquet servers, bartenders, culinary staff, and managers with operational needs before, during, and after events.
• Deliver supplies, equipment, and service items to the appropriate locations.
• Replenish assigned supplies and maintain organized service stations.
• Respond promptly to requests from the banquet team during functions.
• Help maintain clean, organized, and efficient back-of-house areas.
• Communicate setup concerns, maintenance issues, and supply shortages to management.
• Assist with special events, private functions, member activities, and other Food & Beverage      operations as assigned.

Teamwork & Professionalism

• Work collaboratively with banquet, culinary, service, and facilities teams.
• Demonstrate a positive attitude and willingness to assist wherever needed.
• Maintain consistent attendance, punctuality, and reliability.
• Follow instructions, event specifications, and established operating procedures.
• Take initiative to identify tasks that need attention without waiting to be directed.
• Maintain a professional appearance and respectful demeanor.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support the success of the club's operations.

Work Environment & Schedule

This position operates in an active hospitality and event environment, with responsibilities both indoors and in designated outdoor event spaces.

The Houseman / Banquet Steward must be comfortable standing and walking for extended periods, frequently bending and reaching, and lifting, carrying, and moving tables, chairs, supplies, and equipment within established safety guidelines, with or without reasonable accommodation.

The schedule may vary based on the club's event calendar and operational needs. Evening, weekend, and holiday availability is required. Some shifts may begin early or extend late depending on event setup and breakdown requirements.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Previous experience in banquet operations, housekeeping, stewarding, custodial services, or hospitality preferred, but not required.
• Ability to follow event orders, floor plans, setup instructions, and management direction.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, and strong work ethic.
• Ability to operate basic cleaning equipment and safely handle cleaning supplies.
