About TRI:

TRI Environmental is an independent, third-party laboratory that tests geosynthetics, the plastic sheets, fabrics and clay liners used in landfills, mining and water containment.

Summary: The In-Plant Sampler is TRI’s independent, third-party representative at two AGRU plants in South Carolina. The sampler selects or verifies rolls for sampling, confirms each roll against the manufacturer’s roll list, cuts and labels samples, and ships them to TRI laboratories with complete records. Samples stay in TRI custody from cutting to the carrier; plant staff do not cut or ship samples for TRI.

Schedule: Weekdays during plant business hours, Eastern Time, as TRI schedules. Hours vary with production, up to 15 hours per week.

Paid time and travel: Pay starts on arrival at the first plant of the day and ends on departure from the last plant. Drive time between plants is paid working time, and miles driven between plants are reimbursed at the IRS standard business mileage rate. Travel from home to the first plant and from the last plant to home is commuting and is not paid or reimbursed.

Independence: Other employment is permitted, except with a geosynthetic manufacturer, installer, contractor, quality assurance firm or testing laboratory. The sampler may not accept payment or gifts from a manufacturer and keeps project and plant information confidential.

Training: TRI provides on-site training, plant access and safety orientation, and backup coverage for absences.
