We are currently seeking a Construction Material Technician to join our team at Bennettsbridge (Kilkenny) Asphalt Plant.
More about what you will do…
- To test and sample aggregate, bituminous and unbound and earthworks materials including grading analysis, binder content and physical, chemical and mechanical testing in a safe and efficient manner, both in the laboratory and on contracting sites/plant.
- To conduct daily organoleptic checks for lab, production facilities and all stockpiles
- To maintain a safe and tidy workspace and ensure the efficient running of the laboratory
- To maintain quality standards by following Company and accrediting bodies quality procedures and protocol.
- To record sample details on test record sheets and laboratory software.
- To calibrate all testing equipment.
- To prepare for inspections from independent accrediting bodies
- To undertake daily laboratory equipment checks
- To investigate all material related complaints & provide suitable & sufficient feedback & evidence to support.
- To provide technical cover for other contracts within UK & Ireland.
What we need from you…
- Educated to leaving certificate (or equivalent)
- Experience of working in a team environment, providing information and support to colleagues
- Ability to be flexible in working hours, working night shifts or weekends if required
- Driving licence to enable the post holder to fulfil the duties of the role
- Experience, knowledge and understanding of on-site testing of quarry & Bituminous products would be an advantage but not essential as full training will be provided for the roll.
- Have previous experience in sampling and testing of construction materials or transferable skills from other employment types (as full training will be provided)
- Have the awareness to work safely on a construction site or production depot
- Have a willingness to be flexible in your working pattern
- Have the physical ability to carry out sampling and handling of bulky materials
- Hold a full drivers licence & are capable to operate a small sized commercial van
- Enjoy interactions with internal customers, external contributors, and auditors
- Have a tolerance for and ability to handle the details and paperwork associated with the role
- Have a focus planning and organising and problem solving
- Have the ability to work on your initiative
