Job Summary
This job requires the individual to work with Chemists, Engineers and other Technicians. There is daily collaboration with partners and peers to help solve product problems and communicate results, while ensuring adherence to good laboratory practices, especially in areas of safety, instrument calibration, quality control, maintenance, and troubleshooting. The individual is expected to work under limited supervision and normally receives limited instruction on routine work with general instructions given for new assignments
For the individual to apply developed knowledge of the job skills, company policies and procedures to complete a wide variety of difficult assignments/tasks thorough understanding of the general/technical aspects of the job. To work on assignments that are moderately complex in nature and require ordinary problem resolution and independent judgment.
The individual will be able to obtain a comprehensive understanding of the general and technical aspects of the job and the unique aspects of products and materials inherent to our inkjet technologies. And use the expertise and understanding to continue to develop the capability of the current instrument sets in support of emerging needs.
Responsibilities
Support the Lab testing requirements of fluid formulation, raw materials and finished goods testing. Setup new machine from installation, validation to qualification phase. To fulfil this role, the candidate may be involved in the knowledge-transfer program in other countries.
- Have thorough knowledge of routine chemical laboratory procedures, equipment, chemical nomenclature.
- Perform certification in areas of Equipment operations, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance and calibration.
- Working with large fluid containers using a pallet jack/forklift. (some lifting of containers required)
- Working knowledge of the theory and operation of simple analytical testing (pH, conductivity, viscosity, etc.) and/or routine chemical formulation procedures.
- Basic knowledge of the theory and operation of more complex analytical instrumentation (particle size, contact angle, etc.).
- Basic knowledge of general chemistry and/or materials analysis theory.
- Ability to operate basic instruments in a non- routine fashion including set up, calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting (pH, UV-VIS, balances).
- Ability to perform basic, non- standard lab practices (filtration etc.).
- Ability to set up experiments
- Ability to properly use a lab notebook.
- Ability to perform non routine work following clear directions.
- Ability to conduct simple experiments.
- Ability to discuss simple theoretical concepts.
- Ability to perform chemical formulations.
- Ability to understand and interpret the periodic table.
- Ability to use and understand IUPAC chemical nomenclature.
- Ability to understand and apply chemical stoichiometry.
Carry out the on-going Maintenance activities at the lab.
- Demonstrate capability to support characterization of material composition and performance analysis for product research & development purposes, troubleshoot root causes of reliability issues, and recommend and implement corrective or preventive actions.
- Adopt good Total Productive Maintenance approaches to utilize appropriate levels of spares and consumables to maintain cost effectiveness.
- Proactively practice and adhere to Chemical safety and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) licensing, EHS practices and ISO standards to ensure continual compliance to all procedures and processes.
Setup, conduct, troubleshoot, maintain, repair Print Test related tools, software, procedures.
- Includes printer testbeds, print scripts, scanner and scanning scripts, PQ measurement tools and software, database troubleshooting.
- Ability to troubleshoot and modify test scripts and communicate to the world-wide team for issue troubleshooting and procedure alignment.
- Ability to suggest and follow through from tool design to setup of new tools and/or new productivity tools to establishing GRnR and standardize operating procedures.
Education and Experience Recommended
- Degree or Diploma in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry and/or other related technical disciplines or equivalent.
- At least 4-6 years of experience in a high mix, high volume technology manufacturing environment, focusing on testing processes.
- Competent on analytical problem solving, statistical methods and process control.
- Experience with programming test scripts or developing coding would be an added advantage
- Experience in working with equipment like Ion Chromatography, ICP-OES, Particle Sizer, Tensiometer, Rheometers, Viscometer, UV Absorbance, Titrators etc.
- Prior experience in pharmaceutical, oil and gas, or chemical manufacturing will be an added advantage, including working knowledge of EHS, Personal Protective Equipment requirements, Safe Chemical Handling practices and ISO quality and procedures, will be an advantage.
- Able and willing to travel for extended periods.
- Able to work shift and overtime if required.
