Role Purpose
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the Index Research & Design team and help build the technology that powers the next generation of index research and product innovation.
Working at the intersection of quantitative finance, software engineering, and cloud technologies, you will develop scalable research platforms, analytical libraries, and production-ready software that accelerate research and support the delivery of innovative index products.
You will collaborate closely with quantitative researchers, product specialists, and engineering teams to transform research ideas into robust, reusable software while driving the adoption of modern software engineering practices and AI-enabled development tools.
What you'll be doing
Design and develop Python-based software, analytical libraries, and reusable components that support index research, methodology development, and product innovation.
Build scalable applications, data pipelines, and analytical frameworks that enable researchers to analyse large financial datasets and efficiently evaluate new index concepts.
Develop high-performance data processing solutions using modern Python technologies, including Polars, PyArrow, and SQL.
Partner with quantitative researchers to transform analytical prototypes into robust, maintainable, production-ready software.
Collaborate with engineering teams to implement research capabilities on AWS and integrate analytical solutions into enterprise platforms.
Design APIs and shared services that improve collaboration between research, engineering, and product teams.
Evaluate and implement AI-assisted development tools and Large Language Model (LLM) technologies to improve software development, research productivity, documentation, and knowledge management.
Champion modern software engineering practices, including automated testing, code reviews, version control, CI/CD, and reproducible development.
Contribute to the technical roadmap of the Index Research & Design team by identifying technologies and approaches that improve scalability, efficiency, and innovation.
What we're looking for
Significant experience developing software in quantitative finance, financial data, investment research, or another data-intensive analytical environment.
Expert Python programming skills with experience building high-quality, maintainable software.
Strong experience processing large and complex datasets using modern Python data libraries such as Polars, PyArrow, and SQL.
Experience developing applications or analytical services on AWS or another major cloud platform.
Strong understanding of software architecture, APIs, data engineering concepts, and modern software development practices.
Experience designing scalable analytical tools, reusable software libraries, or research platforms.
Interest in applying AI and LLM technologies to improve software engineering and quantitative research workflows.
Good understanding of financial markets, index methodologies, or quantitative investment concepts, with the ability to collaborate effectively with quantitative researchers.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively across research, engineering, product, and technology teams.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience developing software for financial analytics, investment research, or index-related applications.
Experience building data-intensive applications or distributed analytical workflows.
Familiarity with modern development environments and engineering standards, including Git, automated testing, and CI/CD.
Experience using AI coding assistants or LLM APIs to enhance software development and engineering productivity.
MSc or PhD or equivalent experience or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Finance, or another quantitative field.
Why join us
