Commercial Lines Casualty/Excess Casualty Production Binding Underwriter
Job Summary
Seeking experienced and driven Commercial Lines Casualty/Excess Casualty Production Binding Underwriters to join a growing team. This role is focused on new business production and offers the opportunity to build and grow a book of business, with the potential to inherit a seven-figure revenue book depending on experience. Ideal candidates will have strong marketing capabilities, proven sales ability, and the ambition to succeed in a competitive environment.
Compensation Package
- Base Salary: $80,000 – $125,000 (potential to reach $135,000+ for candidates with a significant book of business and strong relationships)
- Bonus Structure (Commission-Based): Eligibility begins once the producer generates 2x their base salary in revenue and covers support staff costs.

Responsibilities
- Build, maintain, and grow a book of business.
- Manage agency relationships and serve as the lead client contact.
- Develop and execute a marketing plan to increase new and renewal business.
- Rate, quote, and bind risks to determine acceptability, coverage, and pricing for large or complex renewals and new business.
- Submit underwriting referrals to company brokerage facilities and management.
- Monitor key metrics to ensure success in new business hit rates, renewal retention, premium growth, and loss ratios.
- Lead, train, and develop Assistant and Associate Underwriters or Brokers.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years in commercial lines underwriting or brokerage; excess & surplus experience preferred.
- Skills: Demonstrated proficiency in sales and marketing, strong organizational skills, and attention to detail.
- Licensure: Insurance license required (or willingness to obtain, with costs covered by the company). CPCU, CIC, or comparable designations preferred.
- Personality: Proven ability to build relationships, drive results, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Professional Development: Interest in continued education and professional growth.
