Job Description:
NextGen Healthcare is seeking a high-caliber Sr. Specialist I, Information Operations (Info Ops) to lead advanced field engineering, systems availability, and technical operations across our regional healthcare client network. In this role, you will ensure the reliable, secure, and efficient operation of enterprise network infrastructure, mission-critical systems, and connected clinical technologies across distributed healthcare facilities.This position is based in Montgomery County, Maryland (Bethesda/Rockville area) and serves as a key regional technical anchor across the Greater Washington, D.C. Area, requiring regular on-site field engineering and travel to support our large concentration of clients in Northern Virginia.
The preferred candidate brings hands-on experience supporting GE ultrasound systems and coordinating equipment repairs, alongside a proven ability to troubleshoot diverse clinical technologies and work directly with external vendors and manufacturers to drive rapid issue resolution.
- Help to manage routers and establish connectivity to client sites. Manage switches, VLANs, dedicated circuits, VPN's firewalls and backup devices. Designs and manages IP addressing, DNS, DHCP, power management, security, LAN, WAN and disaster recovery systems etc.
- Provide remote/on-site support, as required when issues are escalated from the support desk. Independently troubleshoots LAN and WAN problems by applying a scientific methodology to resolve the problem promptly and cost-effectively.
- Assist in the design, architecture, and maintenance of the corporate LAN, WAN, and security systems to ensure that best practices are applied and that downtime is below acceptable minimums.
- Responsible for ensuring day-to-day operation, reliability, and integrity of the enterprise network. This includes the installation, maintenance, and management of all network equipment such as routers, switches, wireless, circuits, servers, backup systems, network management and diagnostic tools, etc.
- Ensure system connectivity of all servers, shared software, groupware, and other applications.
- Create and maintain documentation as it relates to network configuration, mapping, processes, and service records.
- Ensure compatibility and interoperability of in-house networking systems.
- Coordinate and perform in-depth tests, including end-user reviews, for modified and new systems.
- Monitor and test system performance; prepare and deliver system performance statistics and reports.
- Occasional inspection of cables in floors and ceilings.
Education Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or software engineering.
- Or, any combination of education and experience which would provide the required qualifications for the position.
Experience Required:
- 4-6 years’ experience with firewall systems (Security Policy, Mobile Access, IPSEC, & SSL VPN) (Cisco ASA, Checkpoint, or Palo Alto). Switches, Routers, LAN, WAN, VPN, DHCP, TCP/IP, DNS, UDP, Latency, VoIP, QoS, BGP, OSPF, wireless, PPP, MPLS.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of: Design, implementation, and maintenance of solutions, systems, and applications such as SolarWinds Orion or equivalent, AWS (Amazon Web Services), Directory Services -- Microsoft Active Directory, DNS and DHCP; VMware; diagramming and documentation tools, such as Microsoft Visio; applicable data privacy practices and laws.
- Skill in: Working as member of a team; communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholders; analysis and creative problem-solving; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships; project management.
- Ability to: Conduct research into systems issues and products; work in a fast-paced environment; stay organized, prioritize workload, multi-task, and meet deadlines; lift and transport moderately heavy equipment/objects.
