Software Engineer Java SpringBoot Microservices – Cloud Native Applications (GCP)

The Revenue Optimization Team is expanding as we modernize our platforms and build next-generation cloud-native applications on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). We are seeking a Software Engineer who brings strong hands-on development skills, solid design experience, and a passion for building reliable, scalable systems.
This role is ideal for an engineer who can own features end-to-end, contribute to system design, and work closely with Lead and Principal Engineers to deliver high-impact solutions.
Responsibilities
Software Development & Design
- Design, develop, test, and maintain cloud-native application components and services.
- Build and enhance microservices-based architectures using modern development practices.
- Translate business and product requirements into well-designed technical solutions.
- Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code following engineering best practices.
- Participate in design discussions and technical reviews.
Cloud & Platform Engineering
- Develop and operate applications on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Work with containers and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes (GKE).
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, build automation, and deployment processes.
- Ensure applications are designed for scalability, performance, reliability, and security.
AI & Modern Engineering Practices
- Experience using AI Agents for software development to assist with coding, debugging, testing, refactoring, documentation, and development productivity.
- Awareness of AI-enabled SDLC practices and how AI can support various stages of the Software Development Life Cycle.
Quality, Performance & Operations
- Identify and fix performance bottlenecks and reliability issues.
- Participate in troubleshooting production issues and root cause analysis.
- Contribute to improving observability through logging, monitoring, and alerting.
- Help reduce technical debt through continuous refactoring and improvement.
Collaboration & Growth
- Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Quality Engineers, and Platform teams.
- Mentor junior engineers through code reviews and knowledge sharing.
- Actively participate in Agile ceremonies and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Continuously learn new technologies and contribute innovative ideas.
Required Skills
Experience
- 3-4 years of professional experience building enterprise-grade software applications.
Technical Skills
- Strong hands-on experience developing applications using Java
- Solid experience with microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, and distributed systems.
- Hands-on experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, including data modeling and query optimization.
- Good understanding of cloud-native application design principles.
Cloud & DevOps
- Experience working on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or other major public cloud.
- Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and containerized workloads.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git-based version control, and automated testing.
- Familiarity with monitoring, logging, and alerting tools.
Soft Skills
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Good communication skills and ability to collaborate in a global team.
- Ability to take ownership of features and deliver with minimal supervision.
- Willingness to learn new technologies and adapt to evolving technical challenges.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field (required).
- Master’s Degree in Computer Science or related field (preferred).
- Proven experience operating mission-critical, high-availability systems in cloud or hybrid environments.
