Role General Responsibilities:
The Director of Clinical Development is part of the Business Development team and reports to the Vice President. Working closely with Business Development, Clinical Operations, and other key functions, the role leads RFP activities, supports client acquisition, and contributes to business growth.
As the primary client contact during the pre-award phase, the successful candidate will lead capability presentations, manage client meetings, and ensure effective follow-up through contract award.
This is a highly client-facing position requiring 50-60% travel within Korea, with occasional travel to the US and Europe for client meetings and industry events.
Job Summary:
The Director of Clinical Development plays a key role in securing new business opportunities by managing RFP processes, supporting proposal development, and building strong client relationships. The role serves as the main point of contact for prospective clients through the pre-award phase and works collaboratively across departments to deliver winning solutions.
Duties and Specific Tasks:
As part of the Business Development team, you will:
• Build and maintain relationships with prospective and existing clients.
• Represent the company at client meetings, presentations, bid defense meetings, and industry events.
• Collaborate with Business Development, Clinical Operations, Medical, and Proposal teams to develop competitive proposals and strategic solutions.
• Lead and coordinate the RFP process, ensuring high-quality and timely proposal submissions.
• Support feasibility assessments, vendor selection, and proposal development activities.
• Identify opportunities for business growth through upselling and cross-selling.
• Contribute to initiatives that improve win rates, customer engagement, and overall business performance.
• Monitor activities, maintain accurate records, and support achievement of business KPIs.
Work & Education Requirements:
• Degree in Life Sciences or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in CRO, biotech, pharma, or clinical research, including clinical study management.
• Strong client-facing, negotiation, and business development skills.
• Proven leadership, project management, and budget management experience.
• Solid knowledge of ICH-GCP and relevant regulatory requirements.
• Excellent English communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
