Whether you’ve got deep experience in commercial real estate, skilled trades or technology, or you’re looking to apply your relevant experience to a new industry, join our team as we help shape a brighter way forward.
Job Description Summary
As a Business Development Associate, your primary responsibility is to support pipeline growth for our Solutions Development sales teams within an assigned group of industry verticals. To thrive in this role, you have a demonstrated ability to prospect and build early-stage pipeline, you're comfortable in initiating contact with new client targets, and you're motivated by research, organization, and the hunt. This is a foundational, top-of-funnel execution role: you advance and build pipeline in close partnership with a Business Development Director — closing responsibility remains with Solutions Development. It's built for someone establishing a career in commercial real estate business development, with room to grow into a Business Development Director as skills and portfolio ownership expand.
Job Description
What your day-to-day will look like:
- Identify new client targets and business opportunities within the assigned vertical group through market research, account mapping, and monitoring of relevant industry and market signals.
- Proactively prospect and conduct outbound outreach to target accounts to generate new leads and build a qualified pipeline of opportunities.
- Research potential customers and cultivate early-stage relationships with prospects across the assigned verticals.
- Help craft Blue Sheets and account maps, and maintain working knowledge of client organizational structures relevant to the assigned portfolio.
- Prepare research and briefing materials for the Business Development Director, Solutions Development, and JLL executives on target clients, leveraging tools such as ZoomInfo, Outreach, and 6sense.
- Support content gathering, formatting, and assembly ahead of pitch and proposal deadlines.
- Maintain pipeline data, log communication notes, and track activities in Salesforce, Monday.com, and other CRM/project-tracking systems to give the team full visibility into their designated prospects and opportunity portfolio.
- Track and report on prospecting activity, client feedback, and pipeline movement to the Business Development Director.
- Monitor and analyze competitor activity, market trends, and industry shifts within the assigned verticals, briefing the Business Development Director and senior business developers on relevant findings.
- Support conference and industry-event research to identify visibility and relationship-building opportunities, and attend industry events to build credibility with clients and industry peers.
- Maintain an active LinkedIn presence and contribute to social/digital content that elevates personal and JLL brand eminence within the assigned verticals.
- Partner with the assigned Business Development Director, Solutions Development, and marketing to align on active pursuits.
- Build and maintain internal connectivity with brokers and colleagues across other JLL business lines to identify warm introductions, cross-sell opportunities, and teaming strategies, serving as a connector between the Business Development team and brokers, practice leads, and account teams across the firm.
Desired or preferred experience and technical skills:
- 2–4 years of experience in business development, sales support, marketing, or corporate real estate/commercial services.
- Demonstrated ability to perform true business development functions — prospecting, outbound outreach, and lead generation — with comfort initiating contact with new client targets.
- Interest in or exposure to one or more of the following industries is a plus: Industrials, Life Sciences, Healthcare, Technology, Financial Services, or Data Centers.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM software, including Salesforce, Monday.com, and other CRM/pipeline management systems.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, or a related field.
- Excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills; comfortable engaging across internal teams and with external prospects.
- Skilled at building internal relationships across brokers, service lines, and account teams to surface opportunities and support a 'One JLL' approach to pursuits.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail in data tracking and reporting.
- Able to work independently, multitask, and operate effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Ability to effectively qualify prospects and nurture relationships throughout the early stages of the pipeline, working closely with the assigned Business Development Director.
