POSITION OVERVIEW: We are seeking an Automotive Embedded Software Engineer specializing in display and infotainment systems to support the development of current and future automotive products. This role will be involved throughout the full software development lifecycle using V-model methodologies, including requirements development, software design, coding, test planning, validation, and vehicle-level quality support. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams, customers, and global R&D teams to develop high-quality software solutions, refine product requirements, resolve technical issues, and support successful product launches.

PRODUCT/SYSTEM FOCUWe are seeking an Automotive Embedded Software Engineer specializing in display and infotainment systems to support the development of current and future automotive products. This role will be involved throughout the full software development lifecycle using V-model methodologies, including requirements development, software design, coding, test planning, validation, and vehicle-level quality support.The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams, customers, and global R&D teams to develop high-quality software solutions, refine product requirements, resolve technical issues, and support successful product launches.

Requirements

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND SKILLS:

Typical responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

• Support automotive HUD, ICS, display, and related infotainment products and systems.
• Design and develop high-quality diagnostic and application software features aligned with product requirements as part of a cross-functional team supporting current and future products.
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle for automotive display and infotainment features using the internal V-model development process.
• Create software requirements, technical design documentation, and code implementations based on automotive specifications.
• Perform field failure analysis and evaluate solutions for production product issues.
• Develop system test plans and robust test case scenarios based on industry standards.
• Execute engineering and product-level validation while supporting vehicle quality events to help ensure stable product deployment.
• Debug and troubleshoot software issues and propose appropriate technical solutions.
• Collaborate with internal engineering teams and external customers.
• Support customer discussions regarding future product definitions, requirement refinement, issue resolution, and system performance.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/YEARS OF EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronics/Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of software development experience using ARM/C in a real-time, multi-threaded operating system environment.
• Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronics/Electrical Engineering, or a related field is preferred.

DESIRED SPECIALIZED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

• Hands-on experience with version control, CI/CD pipelines, and modern development workflows.
• Ability to debug and troubleshoot software issues and propose technical solutions.
• Experience with I2C serial communication protocols.
• Working knowledge of automotive diagnostic concepts, systems, and methods.
• Experience with software development for ARM-based SoCs and automotive microcontroller families such as NXP, Infineon, RH850, or RL78.
• Experience with low-level firmware development, including power management, clock configuration, and serial communication protocols such as UART, I2C, and SPI.
• Experience with in-vehicle serial communications such as CAN, LIN, and Ethernet.
• Proficiency in hardware-level debugging using JTAG interfaces and on-chip emulators.
• Ability to read and analyze board-level schematics to troubleshoot hardware-software interactions.
• Experience with display interfaces such as MIPI, DisplayPort (DP), HDMI, LVDS, and FPD-Link IV.
• Knowledge of modern display technology, including video and graphics for display firmware.
• Experience with AUTOSAR platforms for North American OEMs is a plus.
• Experience with Software-Defined Vehicle (SDV) architecture is a plus.
• Professional working proficiency in Korean, including reading and writing, is highly preferred.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

In addition to the responsibilities mentioned above, tasks relating to the following area will be assigned as required.

• Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams and clearly explain technical decisions.
• Ability to work effectively with overseas headquarters and global engineering teams.
• Ability to participate in evening discussions as needed to accommodate collaboration with overseas teams.
• Ability to effectively navigate cross-cultural communication and working styles.

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

• Reports to the Engineering Manager of Infotainment Displays.
• Works and communicates with local customers, local team members, and R&D engineers based in Korea.
• Projects may involve collaboration with HQ research engineers remotely or at the business/customer site.
• Consult with Expatriate coordinator to enhance communication with R&D HQ.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
• Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities.

EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:

• A typical work week is 45 hours/week.
• Working hours for employees are flexible with a typical day starting 7am- 9am M-F.
• Hybrid work schedule- 3 days on site required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Office work is normally performed in a typical interior work environment which does not subject the employee to any hazardous or unpleasant elements
