Job Summary: Performs as an instructor in a regular classroom setting, presenting instructions and curriculum relative to students achieving their High School equivalency diploma, and/or, their High School diploma.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

• Assists students in adjusting to Center life to enhance student retention by providing supervision, behavior modification, counseling, and by acting as a positive role model and mentor. 
• Responsible for helping students achieve progressive testing gains in assigned subject areas, and/or, ultimately HSD/HSE attainment. 
• Utilizes provided curriculum resources, implements new curriculum, and develops necessary curriculum through Educational Learning Plans.
• Meets individually with students assigned to their area responsibility at a minimum of once each month documenting the meetings in case notes, filing observations of student’s behavior, performance, notable information or events, and progress towards achieving goals and objectives. 
•  Ensures complete and accurate reporting of attendance in compliance with the Companies Quality Assurance Plan and Procedures (QAPP), and reports results through Student Records on Center.
• Maintains confidentiality but reports significant events or situations immediately through approved channels to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of students and staff, and to ensure that students receive emergency services (physical & emotionally) as needed.
• Ensures equipment and property assigned work areas are clean and maintained in accordance with Center, CSD, and DOL standards. Responsibilities may include conducting quarterly property counts for classroom, submitting property relocation requests as needed, may serve as a property custodian. Submits maintenance requests as needed.
• Responsible for meeting monthly department goals and objectives as assigned by department manager.
• Promotes a positive learning environment and atmosphere within the classroom setting to insure maximum student motivation and achievement by establishing a high degree of student/instructor rapport.
• Responsible for following security measures to ensure that equipment, curriculum, tests, and supplies are secured to safeguard government property and protect the integrity of student testing.
• Prepares Evaluations of Student Performance (ESP) in a timely manner. May sit on student evaluation panels and serve as a member of the student’s Case Management team.
• Attends all job related training as required. 
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Qualifications:

Minimum: Bachelor’s degree. Certified to teach in the state in which center is located.

Preferred: Master Degree in Education, One year in a teaching capacity with disadvantaged youth.

Knowledge: Knowledge of required subject area, excellent communication skills, both oral and written, excellent organizational skills, must obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid Certification, ability to motivate and inspire students, ability to effectively relate to student population.
