Job Description
The General Technician is responsible for supporting the maintenance, functionality, safety, and presentation of facilities, equipment, and operational areas within an exclusive luxury destination.
The role performs a variety of preventive and corrective maintenance tasks and works closely with the Maintenance, Security, Food and Beverage, Housekeeping, Recreation, Finance, and other departments to ensure smooth and reliable daily operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out general maintenance, repairs, inspections, and technical support across the premises.
- Assist with electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, mechanical, HVAC, fixtures, fittings, and basic equipment repairs.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests, breakdowns, defects, and urgent technical issues.
- Conduct regular inspections of facilities, public areas, offices, service areas, equipment, and operational spaces.
- Complete preventive maintenance tasks according to approved schedules.
- Identify safety hazards, defects, damage, and potential equipment failures, and report them to the Maintenance Manager.
- Support the Maintenance Manager and senior technicians with technical repairs and improvement projects.
- Assist with the installation, adjustment, replacement, and testing of equipment, fixtures, fittings, and systems.
- Maintain tools, equipment, spare parts, and work materials in good working condition.
- Keep accurate records of completed work, inspections, repairs, materials used, and outstanding issues.
- Coordinate with other departments to complete work efficiently and with minimal disruption.
- Assist approved contractors and service providers when required.
- Support compliance with health, safety, fire-safety, environmental, and organizational requirements.
- Follow safe-working procedures, including appropriate isolation and lockout procedures where applicable.
- Keep work areas clean, safe, organized, and free from unnecessary hazards.
- Handle tools, equipment, chemicals, and materials responsibly.
- Maintain a professional appearance, respectful conduct, and discreet approach at all times.
- Protect confidential information relating to the organization, facilities, systems, and operations.
- Attend team briefings, training sessions, safety meetings, and inspections.
- Perform other reasonable duties assigned by the Maintenance Manager or management.
Desired Skill & Expertise
- Technical certificate, vocational qualification, or equivalent experience in Maintenance, Electrical, Plumbing, Mechanical, HVAC, Carpentry, or a related field.
- Previous experience in general maintenance, facilities support, building services, or a similar technical role.
- Basic knowledge of multiple maintenance disciplines.
- Ability to use common hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and maintenance materials.
- Strong troubleshooting and practical problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of workplace safety and basic fire-safety requirements.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, weekends, public holidays, and respond to urgent maintenance matters when required.
- Relevant technical licenses or certifications are an advantage.
