The University is inviting applications from high-caliber professionals for the position of Manager (Development Projects) in the Vice-President for Development Office (VPDO). Reporting to the Vice-President for Development (VPD) and the Principal Development Executive (PDE), the appointee will play an important role in supporting the University's long-term development through the planning, coordination and implementation of major projects and special assignments. The position will support the operation of the VPDO and a broad portfolio of development projects, including campus expansion, facility planning, institutional growth initiatives and the development of facilities associated with the University's development plan. The Development Manager will be responsible for the following:

Responsibilities

  • Support in the coordination and implementation of strategic development initiatives, policies and projects that advance the University's long-term development objectives.
  • Assist in driving cross-functional collaboration among the Campus Development Office, Campus Management Office, academic departments and administrative units to ensure effective planning and delivery of strategic initiatives.
  • Conduct research, benchmarking studies and strategic analyses to support decision-making on campus development, institutional growth, space planning, land development opportunities and other major development initiatives.
  • Manage consultant studies, feasibility assessments, planning exercises, business cases and special projects undertaken by the VPDO.
  • Support in identifying and evaluating opportunities that enhance the University's physical development, operational effectiveness and long-term growth.
  • Review and appraise planning, design, operational and functional requirements associated with major development projects and facilities.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including academic departments, consultants, government agencies and development partners, to facilitate project planning and implementation.
  • Undertake any other duties as assigned by the VPD or PDE.

Qualifications and Experience Required

Candidates should possess a recognized university degree in a building-related field and professional qualifications in the respective disciplines. They should have at least 15 years of post-graduate experience, including 10 years of post-qualification experience, in architecture, engineering, construction, or project management. Possession of professional qualifications in project management will be an advantage. Familiarity with NEC contracts and accreditation as an NEC Professional will be an asset.

The ideal candidate should possess substantial experience in planning, design and delivery of large-scale development projects, preferably in a major management role. Experience in healthcare, education, research or related facilities development projects will be an advantage.

Excellent communication skills, management capability, and stakeholder management and engagement skills are essential. A good command of both written and spoken Chinese and English is required. Experience liaising with relevant government agencies and statutory bodies will be an advantage.

Appointment to the position will be on two-year fixed term contract basis.  Competitive remuneration and generous fringe benefits, including housing where appropriate, will be provided.  A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.
