Introduction to the Team:
InsurTech is Expedia Group’s team for insurance and assurance products. It identifies, incubates, and scales products that drive revenue and fit into the traveler journey, and it owns the end-to-end technology strategy and execution for those products.
In practice, the team builds reusable shop/book/serve capabilities for insurance and fintech offerings across Expedia brands, and focuses on things like supply integration, checkout, servicing, claims, content, experimentation, and ML/data platforms.
In this role, you will:
Lead the definition, planning, and delivery of complex, multi-team technical programs across the Insurtech organization, with a focus on Insurance and embedded flexibility products, ensuring clear problem framing, measurable outcomes, and alignment to Expedia Group’s strategic objectives.
Drive innovative programs that improve the traveler experience while delivering significant impact to a P&L business within Expedia Group, translating strategy into executable roadmaps, operating plans, and measurable business and customer outcomes.
Drive end-to-end program execution by establishing program structures, roadmaps, and success metrics; proactively identifying cross-team dependencies; and resolving risks and issues to maintain predictable delivery across engineering, product, business, and partner stakeholders.
Partner closely with engineering and architecture leaders to shape technical solutions, including system design, API contracts, and data flows, and ensure design decisions support scalability, resilience, security, and long-term maintainability.
Collaborate with supplier partners and cross-functional teams across global markets to deliver customer and commercial value at scale, align priorities, and accelerate execution across a distributed ecosystem.
Create and operate effective governance and communication mechanisms, including steering forums, technical reviews, and decision logs, that provide transparency, enable timely trade-offs, and keep executives, partner organizations, and stakeholders informed and engaged.
Drive breakthrough and 0-to-1 product development outcomes by enabling experimentation, validating new opportunities, and helping teams turn emerging concepts into scalable products and platform capabilities.
Champion and implement best practices in technical program management at scale, including standardized planning, execution, and operational excellence practices, while mentoring other TPMs and influencing how programs are run across the broader organization.
Safely integrate and operate AI/ML-enabled solutions that improve outcomes by coordinating experimentation, rollout, and monitoring plans, and ensuring teams have the practices and controls needed to use AI-driven systems, tools, and workflows responsibly and effectively.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience leading complex technology initiatives.
Extensive experience (typically 10+ years) in technical program management, software engineering, or a closely related discipline, including ownership of large, cross-team, or multi-service programs in a technology organization.
Proven ability to work hands-on with engineering teams on technical topics such as distributed system design, API design, data modeling, and integration patterns, and to translate technical details into clear, outcome-focused plans.
Demonstrated success driving programs from concept through launch and ongoing iteration, including definition of measurable objectives, risk and dependency management, and establishing mechanisms for tracking and reporting progress at scale.
Familiarity with AI-driven systems, tools, or workflows and applying AI/ML concepts to real world products, including partnering with engineering and data teams to ensure such capabilities are integrated and operated safely and effectively within program scope.
Preferred Qualifications:
Track record of leading multi-quarter, multi-team technical transformations, platform initiatives, or 0-to-1 product programs, operating at organization or domain scale and navigating complex stakeholder landscapes across product, engineering, and business teams.
Experience delivering in highly regulated product environments, with the ability to incorporate compliance, risk, privacy, security, and operational control requirements into program planning, execution, and decision-making.
Strong experience with B2C program and product development, including delivering customer-facing capabilities that improve user experience, drive adoption, and balance customer value with measurable business outcomes.
Deep experience influencing technical direction through program work, including coordinating architectural reviews, driving alignment on system and API design decisions, and ensuring data models and integration approaches enable long-term extensibility, reuse, and partner interoperability.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with external partners, suppliers, and third-party providers, aligning joint roadmaps, managing dependencies, and delivering shared outcomes across internal and external teams.
Demonstrated ability to design and improve program operating models and execution frameworks, including mechanisms that enhance reliability, observability, incident response, and continuous improvement for large-scale, customer-facing systems.
Strong data-driven decision-making skills, including defining and instrumenting key technical and business metrics, using data to assess program health and trade-offs, and adjusting plans based on empirical evidence, experimentation results, and evolving market or partner inputs.
Safely integrates and operates AI/ML-enabled solutions that improve outcomes, with experience steering AI/ML-related programs such as personalization, automation, or decision-support capabilities, including responsible use guardrails, evaluation methods, and collaboration with specialized AI/ML teams.
