Summary
The Manufacturing Reliability Specialist is responsible for ensuring reliability, efficiency, and continuous improvement of manufacturing equipment and processes. This role oversees preventive maintenance activities, manages equipment breakdowns, and drives improvement initiatives in alignment with safety, environmental, quality, and production standards. The specialist serves as the key contact point between production, maintenance, and plant engineering to ensure equipment and process excellence.
Responsibilities
- Helps with preventive maintenance (PM) activities for all equipment.
- Participate in preparation of activities related to the implementation of standards and technical specifications for work on machines/equipment.
- Leads in the development of skills and techniques with a focus on safety and machine downtime and uptime.
- Help to ensure work orders and TPM activities are done to reduce downtime and increase uptime through training activities.
- Assists with PM repair documentation as needed and required.
- Monitor equipment performance and ensure timely corrective actions.
- Lead efforts to restore machines during breakdowns, minimizing downtime.
- Manage machine breakdown response, coordinating with shift teams and maintenance staff.
- Analyze root causes of equipment failures and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Manage and support PM team members across all shifts.
- Ensure effective communication and knowledge transfer between shifts.
- Partner with production to balance equipment availability with operational needs.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to identify and implement best practices.
- Ensure compliance with ISO, IATF, or other relevant industry standards.
- Act as the contact window with Maintenance and Plant Engineering departments.
- Coordinate with production leadership to prioritize work and minimize disruption.
- Prepare reports and updates for management regarding PM activities and improvement progress.
- Support and lead improvement activities in area.
- Report any unsafe acts and conditions in the working area.
- Reports immediately any machine abnormality to immediate supervisor to avoid longer machine downtime while following all Stop, Call, Wait policies and procedures.
- Complies strictly with company rules and regulations.
- Maintains good housekeeping in the area using 5S tools.
Education and Experience
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:- 3+ years preferred Manufacturing Process or related field
- High School graduate or GED equivalent
- Become qualified operator as it pertains to quality and productivity
SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Working knowledge of high-speed equipment
- Ability to perform minor troubleshooting
- Ability to operate area machines efficiently in a process
- Ability to learn quickly and be flexible with schedule changes
- Ability to work in a high pace environment
Physical Requirements
Must be able to push, pull, and tug 50lbs or more.
