Medical Director Veterinarian – Midland, NC

An established veterinary practice is seeking an experienced and compassionate Veterinarian Medical Director to provide clinical leadership while continuing to practice medicine. This opportunity is ideal for a veterinarian who enjoys mentoring others, contributing to a collaborative team, and helping shape the medical direction and culture of a practice.

 

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality veterinary care through examinations, diagnostics, treatment planning, surgery, and preventive medicine.
• Serve as a clinical leader and help establish and maintain high standards of patient care.
• Mentor, support, and develop associate veterinarians and other members of the medical team.
• Promote a collaborative, positive, and professional hospital culture.
• Provide guidance on medical protocols, case management, and clinical decision-making.
• Collaborate with practice leadership to improve workflows, patient care, and overall hospital operations.
• Maintain accurate and complete medical records in accordance with applicable standards.
• Support continuing education and professional development within the veterinary team.
• Communicate effectively with clients regarding diagnoses, treatment options, and ongoing patient care.
• Help identify opportunities for continuous improvement in medical quality and client service.
• Maintain compliance with applicable veterinary, safety, and regulatory requirements.

 

Qualifications

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) or equivalent degree from an accredited institution.
• Active veterinary license in good standing in the state of practice.
• DEA registration and other required state or federal credentials, as applicable.
• Several years of clinical veterinary experience.
• Previous leadership or mentorship experience is preferred.
• Strong clinical judgment and diagnostic skills.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational abilities.
• Ability to work collaboratively with veterinarians, technicians, assistants, and practice leadership.
• Passion for high-quality patient care, team development, and client service.
• Commitment to maintaining professional standards and continuing education.
