Role Context

We are seeking an actuary to support the financial analysis of new insurance product launches, with a strong emphasis on regulatory and statutory reporting. The ideal candidate will bring technical expertise and a collaborative mindset to help shape product strategy through robust financial insight.

Whilst willing to accept candidates with a wide variety of applicable experience, we have a particular interest in candidates who have worked in with-profits, bulk annuities / DB pensions, or IFRS 17.

Key Accountabilities

  • Input to impact assessments of new product launches under IFRS 17 and UK GAAP, ensuring alignment with internal and external reporting requirements.
  • Provide expert guidance on IFRS 17 implementation, including contractual service margin (CSM) modelling, risk adjustment, and coverage units.
  • Support design, structuring and review of new with-profits product features to enable understanding of accounting and commercial impacts.
  • Collaborate with proposition, legal, actuarial business development and deal origination and execution teams to deliver clear, actionable insights on financial implications of product design.

Required Knowledge and Experience

  • Qualified actuary with technical actuarial and reporting expertise in the life insurance industry.
  • An understanding of the requirements of IFRS 17 and experience of working with businesses in interpreting and implementing these requirements.
  • Experience of financial reporting and operation of with-profit funds.
  • Knowledge of financial services, regulatory and legislative frameworks, including IFRS and SII principles and associated external reporting and disclosure requirements.
  • An understanding of financial statements and the key data included in the P&L and balance sheet.
  • Knowledge of M&G products, systems and distribution methods.
  • Working knowledge of how governance, risk and compliance processes impact on M&G.
  • An understanding of the commercial implications of decisions.
