Position Summary
The Director of Engineering provides technical leadership for Concorde Battery's manufacturing operations, process improvements, product development, and engineering projects. This role serves as the primary engineering resource for manufacturing processes, equipment, product enhancements, and complex technical issues. The Director of Engineering drives continuous improvement initiatives, evaluates emerging technologies, and supports the development of current and future battery products.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead engineering projects from concept through implementation.
- Serve as the technical lead for manufacturing processes, equipment, and product improvements.
- Provide solutions for complex technical, manufacturing, and product-related issues.
- Lead initiatives to optimize lead-acid battery manufacturing processes.
- Evaluate new materials, manufacturing methods, technologies, and production equipment.
- Identify and implement automation opportunities to improve safety, quality, and productivity.
- Collaborate with R&D, Operations, Quality, and Commercial teams on product enhancements and new product initiatives.
- Investigate product failures and manufacturing non-conformances, conduct root cause analyses, and prepare technical reports.
- Support customer technical requirements, audits, RFIs, and RFQs.
- Maintain technical documentation, specifications, and engineering literature.
- Support non-lead-acid battery development projects as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field required.
- Advanced degree preferred.
Experience
- 5+ years of engineering experience in lead-acid battery manufacturing, battery production, energy storage technologies, or a related industry.
- Experience leading engineering projects from concept through implementation.
- Experience with manufacturing process optimization, equipment improvements, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Experience conducting failure analysis, root cause investigations, and corrective actions.
- Aerospace, industrial battery, automotive, or energy storage industry experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong knowledge of lead-acid battery manufacturing processes and technologies.
- Understanding of battery systems, electrochemistry, and energy storage technologies.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Effective project management and organizational skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and engineering documentation systems.
- Ability to work effectively with customers, suppliers, and cross-functional teams.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in both office and manufacturing environments.
- Ability to inspect production processes and equipment.
- Ability to travel as required.
Schedule
Monday – Friday 8+ hours per day on-site
