Instrument/Analyzer Maintenance Supervisor
Job Summary
The Marathon Los Angeles California Refinery located in Carson California has an opening for a Maintenance Supervisor - Instrument/Analyzer. This position will play a strong role in improving and maintaining the reliability of refinery electrical systems to ensure the refineries product quality and environmental compliance. This position assists in troubleshooting complex instrument issues; provides support to field Instrument Technicians; conducts investigations into Instrument failures and presents findings; coordinates shop repair of equipment, leads, mentors, trains and coaches instrument technicians; manages compliance of the companies instrument PM requirements; updates maintenance procedures, coordinates the execution of turnaround instrumentation scope; and champions safety in the Maintenance Organization.
The schedule for the position is Monday- Thursday with core hours 6 AM - 4:30 PM (PST), cover call-out supervisor duty two weeks per year, handle after hours calls several times a month over the phone and support of TAR averaging once a year.
Key Responsibilities
Manage work groups as required
Lead, mentor, train, and coach instrument technicians
Identify, investigate, and resolve analyzer reliability issues
Review PM plans to ensure frequency, plan steps and hours are correct.
Implement new PM’s identified by MOC’s and projects
Complete Intelex assignments, incident investigations, action items /MOCs.
Assist and communicate job status to the Area Maintenance Coordinator’s.
Assist with compliance with the refinery’s mechanical integrity program
Provide on call support as required
Submit craft availability hours for scheduling
Identify and coordinate repairs to be performed by off-site repair shops
Coordinate shop repair work
Review engineering packages as necessary
Assist in initial job walks to develop scope
Assist in TAR scope development
Assist the Planner and Materials Coordinator to manage warehouse stock. Identify obsolete stock, identify necessary quantity changes, identify new or upgraded parts to be added to stock
Coordinate emergency work
Track Instrument/Analyzer PM completion
Assist with work order backlog review and mitigation
Manage calibration and certification of test equipment
Manage certification of electrical PPE
Mange craft progression and training requirements
Review and update maintenance procedures
Review procedures with craft
Provide technical support to field instrument technicians
Identify and coordinate onsite repairs by an outside service provider
Coordinate major maintenance and repairs
Participate in Shop Audits
Perform safety audits.
Assist the Area Maintenance Coordinator/Operations Maintenance Specialist in progressing the maintenance schedule for their area.
Education, Experience and Skills
Minimum Qualifications
Must have a High School Diploma or GED and at least 8 years of instrumentation maintenance experience as a craftsperson and/or maintenance foreman/supervisor in a refinery or petro-chemical industry OR Associates Degree in related area and 6 years instrumentation maintenance experience in a refinery or petro-chemical industry OR have a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related degree and 6 years instrumentation or electrical engineering experience in a refinery or petro-chemical industry.
Must be familiar with Microsoft: Word, Excel and Outlook.
Must be able to wear appropriate PPE in the refinery (respirator), be able to physically perform all tasks in the field and take hair drug test and physical.
Must have a valid driver’s license.
Must be legally authorized to work in the US without the need for future VISA sponsorship.
Travel Requirement is 5% or less.

Preferred Qualifications
Petro-chemical Analyzer experience is preferred.
Proficient in SAP is preferred.
