Summary of the Purpose and Objective 

The Sanitation Tech is responsible to perform more technical aspects of cleaning/sanitation process in accordance with Master Cleaning Schedule and departmental/safety/quality processes.  The Sanitation Tech is responsible for dispensing of chemicals, maintaining bag houses (filter system), and more with the cleaning and sanitation of production areas/equipment.

This position is slated for team members who are currently working at this facility or complex only.

Team members interested in transferring into this position from another Tyson facility should express interest through their local HR Partner.

Team Members hired into part time positions are not eligible to bid on promotional positions and/or transfers for a period of 6 months.

Description of Primary Duties and Responsibilities 

• COMPLETED LOCKOUT/TAGOUT AND CHEMICAL TRAINING REQUIRED within first week; must complete scissor lift and forklift training within first two weeks. 
• Must complete required chemical training as sanitation tech will be responsible for dispensing and disposing of chemicals; must understand MSDS and all safety requirements for storage, use, and proper disposal of all chemicals used.
• Maintain cleanliness of production and non-production areas utilizing high pressure hoses, air wands, and other various tools and chemicals; must follow all safety/quality processes and department operation standards.
• Must perform checks on equipment to ensure all areas properly cleaned and sanitized.  May be asked to check areas cleaned by other team members. This will require the assembly/disassembly of equipment and machinery. 
• Must communicate any issues/concerns to direct lead, supervisor, and/or manager in timely manner.
• May perform backup lead functions as needed.
• Must complete paperwork/documentation as required.
• Must maintain cleanliness/organization of sanitation areas, lockers, chemical rooms, etc.
• Responsible for notifying Supervisor and/or QA of contamination concerns.
• Responsible for monitoring and reporting any wear and tear on equipment in timely manner. 
• Responsible for following company policies/procedures written or verbal. 
• Performs all other tasks as assigned. 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required for the Position 

• Must be able to perform the Sanitation Laborer Training Checklist job tasks within expected training period. 
• Must be able to follow direction and stay on task with little to no supervision.
• Must be able to effectively communicate to colleagues and management.
• Troubleshooting and analytical skills preferred.
• Must be able to safety operate scissor lift, forklift, hand jack, and other industrial equipment.
• Must be able to read and understand the Sanitation SOP’s, manuals, and related documentation as written.  Must be able to read and write.
• Must be able to work variable shifts of up to twelve (12) hour days including weekends and holidays.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The successful candidate(s) must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.

• The Team Member will bend, stand, twist, push, pull and  lift on a regular basis.
• Team Member will flex wrists and hands. 
• Must be willing and able to lift up to 35-50 lbs. on a frequent basis. Must be able to move heavy objects (100 lbs.) with mechanical device.
•  Must be able to tolerate heights up to 70 ft off the ground and move objects of 100 lbs. using mechanical device.

Training (Equipment & Methods)  

• Job specific training will be conducted by the designated Trainer(s), managers/supervisors, colleagues, and knowledge experts.
• Required training may include, but is not limited to, lockout-tagout, scissor lift, fall protection, chemical training, confined spaces (consists of pulmonary function testing), ongoing quality, safety and departmental training.
• Team members will be evaluated on job performance in accordance with the Training Program SOP. 
• SPC training conducted by designated trainer. Documentation and agenda kept by Quality Control. 
• Monthly training of a Safety topic and a GMP topic will be conducted by their immediate supervisor from information provided by the Safety Director and QA Manager. 

Job Safety Analysis  

• Personal Protective Equipment:  smock, hair net, ear plugs, slip resistant shoes and safety glasses, gloves, boots, aprons. 
• Will be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, known allergens such as soy, wheat, and milk; and extreme weather conditions. 
• Will be occasionally exposed to high precarious places; confined spaces, extreme cold; extreme heat and vibration. 
• Will be regularly exposed to moving equipment and mechanical parts. 
• Noise level in the work environment is usually loud and requires hearing protection. 
• Will consistently be walking/standing on concrete floors and exposed to wet/slippery surfaces for long/extended periods of time.

Openings for this position will be posted for three (3) working days (Tues-Thurs) utilizing Workday system for application process.

Openings for this position will be filled by the most qualified, eligible bidder per Tyson’s Job Bidding Policy.  Bidding disqualifiers include having:

• More than four (4) attendance points
• Active written warning within the last three (3) months
• Written warning with suspension within the last six (6) months
• Less than six months in current position (unless bidding on promotional position).

*TM WILL HAVE A FIVE (5) DAY TRIAL PERIOD IN POSITION; after the five-day period, TM must remain in position, bid on promotional position (not guaranteed), or demote by completing a Status Change Form, notifying HR, and being transferred to any available GPW position.  If self-demote, TM will be placed on a six (6) month “freeze” in which he/she cannot bid on any other positions.
