Position Overview
Location: Naval Station Mayport, Jacksonville, Florida 32228
Department: LCSRON TWO N41 – Supply Department
Work Arrangement: 100% onsite
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m., with a one-hour lunch
Clearance: Active Secret clearance required by the first day of work
Citizenship: U.S. citizenship required
Position Summary
The Junior Database Developer will design, develop, enhance, and maintain database and reporting solutions supporting Littoral Combat Ship Squadron TWO (LCSRON TWO). The position will improve existing Microsoft Access and SharePoint applications, develop new multi-user database capabilities, and convert operational data into useful reports and metrics.
The developer will collaborate with the Metrics Business Analyst, Government subject-matter experts, the Chief of Staff, and Department Heads to streamline workflows, improve data integrity, and reduce unnecessary or duplicative administrative effort.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, enhance, and maintain technical, multi-user database and web-based business applications.
- Develop solutions using Microsoft Access, SharePoint, SQL, VBA, HTML, Microsoft Office, and comparable technologies.
- Collaborate with the Metrics Business Analyst and Government subject-matter experts to create and maintain databases used to track and report operational metrics.
- Clean and validate historical data contained in the existing Train to Qualify Microsoft Access database.
- Develop reports and modifications supporting a database that tracks approximately 750 replacement sailors in the LCSRON TWO training pipeline.
- Assist with the delivery of at least 10 identified T2Q reports during the initial performance period.
- Develop database designs and process flows supporting maintenance requirements and related operational functions.
- Create reports and queries that enable recurring analysis of:
- Preventive Maintenance Availabilities
- Operational Availability
- Material Availability
- Train to Qualify replacement sailors
- Maintenance, sustainment, readiness, and other operational requirements
- Conduct workflow analyses and recommend streamlined processes that reduce unnecessary work, duplication, and administrative churn.
- Provide interpretive analysis using information from existing and newly developed databases.
- Create qualitative and quantitative reports, graphs, charts, tables, and other visual products for leadership decisions and briefings.
- Provide technical guidance on database design, reporting tools, analytical processes, metrics, and business applications.
- Support immediate and long-term process-improvement recommendations.
- Participate in recurring status meetings, technical working groups, and meetings with Government stakeholders.
- Maintain plans and schedules for assigned deliverables and contribute to weekly and monthly status reporting.
- Safeguard classified information, Controlled Unclassified Information, and Privacy Act data.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited U.S. college or university in database development, computer science, information technology, or a related field; equivalent military or commercial experience may be accepted.
- At least three years of specialized experience in database development and business analysis.
- Demonstrated proficiency with:
- Microsoft Access
- SharePoint
- SQL
- Visual Basic for Applications
- HTML
- Microsoft Office
- Experience building, maintaining, and enhancing business database applications.
- Ability to translate complex data and technical analyses into understandable graphs, charts, tables, and reports.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal, collaboration, and team-based problem-solving skills.
- U.S. citizenship and an active Secret security clearance by the first day of performance.
