Job Description: Tax Code Maintenance “Data Ops Rep II”

Role Overview

The Tax Code Maintenance Specialist will be responsible for researching, maintaining, and resolving tax code maintenance activities. This role supports the setup of tax codes and related research processes, including reconciliation of quarter-to-date (QTD) and year-to-date (YTD) tax codes, client assistance with Power of Attorney (POA) and Third-Party Administrator (TPA) requests, and support for payroll tax-related projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Research, maintain, and resolve tax code maintenance end activities.
• Support tax code setup and research processes as part of Tax Code Maintenance (TCM) operations.
• Reconcile QTD and YTD tax codes to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Assist clients with updates related to POA and TPA requests.
• Support assigned projects related to State Unemployment Insurance (SUI), State Income Tax (SIT), Federal Income Tax (FIT), and other payroll tax areas.
• Perform payroll tax reconciliations, analysis, and issue resolution.
• Work with customers and payroll tax agencies to negotiate positive and timely resolutions.
• Use multiple systems and tools to perform daily job responsibilities effectively.
• Collaborate with internal teams while also managing tasks independently.

Required Skills and Competencies

• Demonstrated experience in payroll tax reconciliations and analysis.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and research skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in tax-related activities.
• Good command of oral and written communication.
• Ability to work effectively in a customer-facing environment.
• Ability to negotiate and drive positive resolutions with customers and payroll tax agencies.
• Comfortable working independently as well as within a team-based environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Excel.

Tools and Systems

Proficiency in working with multiple systems and tools required to perform job functions, including Salesforce, MasterTax, Microsoft Excel, and other payroll tax platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field; or
• Minimum of 1–2 years of equivalent work experience in payroll tax, accounting, finance, or customer service operations.
• Previous customer service experience is preferred.
