Housekeeper / Environmental Services Technician (Full-Time)

Make a direct impact on patient health and safety as a Housekeeper / Environmental Services (EVS) Technician at Artesian Valley Health System (AVHS). Recognized as one of the region’s premier employers, AVHS relies on our EVS team to maintain a clean, safe, and healing environment across our facilities.

Schedule & On-Call Requirements

• Status: Full-Time
• Standard Hours: Monday – Friday, 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM (this can be discussed for minor adjustments)
• On-Call: One weekday evening per week + rotating weekend coverage

Key Responsibilities

• Perform high-standard cleaning, sanitization, and floor care across patient care areas, offices, and common spaces.
• Adhere to strict infection control, safety, and health system guidelines.
• Restock supplies, handle waste disposal, and respond promptly to urgent room turnaround requests.
• Serve as a friendly, professional face to patients, visitors, and staff.

Requirements

Job Requirements

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent (preferred).
  
• Experience: Previous commercial cleaning or housekeeping experience (preferred).
  
• Core Competencies:
  
  • Must understand and apply effective cleaning, sanitizing, and chemical safety principles with appropriate training.
  • Ability to safely read, comprehend, and follow written and verbal instructions, including safety rules, procedure manuals, and SDS sheets. 
  • Strong observational, organizational, and decision-making skills. 
• Interpersonal & Professional Skills:
  
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with co-workers, patients, residents, and support agencies. 
  • Must maintain strict patient and system confidentiality at all times. 
  • Ability to work independently with high personal integrity and adaptability. 
  • High level of customer service, treating patients, guests, and staff with courtesy and respect.
    
• Physical & Environmental Expectations:
  
  • Physical ability to execute heavy cleaning duties (sweeping, scrubbing, dusting, washing windows/walls, moving waste) without causing unnecessary disturbance to patients.
    
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality.
    
  • Strict compliance with healthcare facility dress code, mandatory education, and health system policies.
