Description
Pediatrics Specialty Triage Phone LVN
- Conduct thorough phone-based triage assessments for pediatric patients presenting with health concerns, including acute pain, infectious diseases, and chronic conditions such as asthma or allergies.
- Provide appropriate medical advice and guidance to parents or guardians, including home care instructions, and encourage them to seek medical care.
- Schedule appointments or direct patients to emergency or urgent care as warranted.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with patients/families, physicians, and other members of the healthcare team.
- Maintain accurate and detailed documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Follow standing order procedures as indicated by the practice.
- Support patient and doctor needs for prior authorizations.
- Referral coordination and scheduling.
- Follow up on lab results, telemedicine, and/or in-office appointment scheduling.
- Check and transcribe voicemails into phone note messages for callbacks.
- Provide clear instructions on symptom management, medication administration, first aid, and when to seek emergency care or schedule follow-up appointments.
- Collaborate with our physicians on urgent cases involving patient admissions and hospitalizations requiring immediate attention and case management.
- Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies during all patient interactions.
- Valid LVN license with current CA state licensure required.
- Proven experience working as a triage nurse in pediatric settings or related environments such as hospitals, urgent care clinics, or medical offices.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for documentation and case management purposes.
- Knowledge of ICD-9/ICD-10 coding for accurate medical documentation and billing processes.
- Strong understanding of physiology, anatomy knowledge related to pediatrics, and patient assessment techniques.
- Ability to communicate effectively with children of various ages and their families while demonstrating empathy and professionalism in high-pressure situations.
