Description
You will play a key role in embedding HCF’s Enterprise and Operational Risk Management Frameworks, ensuring risks are identified, assessed, managed and monitored in day-to-day operations. You will provide practical risk advice, constructive challenge and meaningful insights across operational activities, projects and change initiatives, while supporting resilience and regulatory obligations including CPS 230.
Key responsibilities
- Partner with business leaders and stakeholders to embed effective operational risk management practices and strengthen risk ownership.
- Provide trusted advice, guidance and constructive challenge to support risk-informed decision-making and improved risk outcomes.
- Support control activities, including process walkthroughs, sample testing, documentation reviews and control effectiveness assessments.
- Coach stakeholders in identifying, assessing, managing and treating operational risks.
- Support updates to Business Unit Risk Registers and Critical Process Risk Registers, ensuring alignment between risks, controls, causes and treatments.
- Oversee operational incident management processes, including root cause analysis, control gap identification and remediation tracking.
- Support risk assessments for material service providers and ensure accurate mapping to critical processes, technology platforms and dependencies.
- Partner with project and change teams to embed risk management principles throughout the change lifecycle.
- Analyse risk, control, incident and resilience data to identify trends, emerging risks and improvement opportunities.
- Prepare meaningful risk insights and reporting for senior leaders, governance committees and Board forums.
Essential experience
- 5+ years’ experience in operational risk management within a regulated or complex business environment.
- Experience managing operational incidents, including root cause analysis, control gap identification, remediation tracking and risk assessment.
- Experience conducting controls assurance activities such as control testing, process walkthroughs, sample testing and documentation reviews.
- Advanced process mapping and process modelling skills using Microsoft Visio.
- Strong knowledge of operational risk, governance and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Strong stakeholder management, influencing and communication skills, including the ability to prepare and present risk insights to senior leaders and governance forums.
Desirable experience
- Practical experience applying CPS 230 requirements across operational risk and resilience activities.
- Experience within private health insurance or another APRA-regulated industry.
- Experience supporting regulatory, audit or assurance engagements.
- Experience contributing to business continuity and operational resilience programs.
